I touched base on this in that Origins of Wealth thread...

I think an employment office would be a good idea...

here are some of my pros:

1. there will always be jobs listed (everyone needs ore, heads, skins, strange looking beasts to start a circus, etc.)

2. if a player is usually on around times with not many players on (we've all had those times where it's only one of us on, and we don't have to type "who" to figure it out) it gives that player more of an oppurtunity to rp through quests and what not

3. it can be utilized by everyone, government, houses, and players alike (you a merchant, and that rat-bastard thief keeps robbing you blind, or do you want to corner the market on toothbrushes?!? why not post a job to rid 4L of these pests!!!)

4. derived from 3., it gives players more interaction even if they might never see each other

5. going back to my post about "THE ORIGIONS OF WEALTH", if a PC takes a job to gather ore, he/she would go to PCs to try to hire them for cheap back breaking labor

6. it just seems like it would bring more to the game (a character stuck in the bar twiddling his/her thumbs aimlessly for 6 hours IRL just waiting for a PC to enter, thinking "what am I going to do with all these gerbils", what better to do than go down to the employment office to see if there's a job to go out and forage up some wood, or bring in some hides [I'm sure the clothing shops need supplies to make clothing])

7. I'll leave 7 on for other people's input

though, I've thought about some cons too:

1. I'd wonder if it would steer the mud to more hack'n'slash (someone always wants someone else dead), which would be VERY bad

2. Would it pull possible job prospects away from the houses and Kaiden. People just pulling posts off a board and do nothing but those jobs (though, it would be just as possible for the houses and Kaiden to create a job list for their employees, and their pay could based on the jobs they do [oooh, I could go into more detail on this one])

3. I'll leave 3 on for everyone elses input
