Subject: Selling Timeshare

Just had a call from a company called 'European Timeshare Owners Organisation' offering to buy my weeks with a sale window of approximately eight weeks. Offer appears to be a realistic selling price (two-thirds of what I paid). Put them off for a couple of weeks while I try and find more information. Similar to a recent approach of 'legal fees' to be paid up front to make sure we're genuine sellers of which we get the fees back at the end of the transaction. Does anyone know of them or had dealings with them?, site address www.etoo.com

A quick search on there "whinges" page http://www.crimeshare.net/whingest.html came up with the following:

Jan 30 2005
My husband received telephone call from Veronica of ETOO based in Mill Hill London stating they had sold our timeshare week for £5,800 and which way would we like to be paid by cheque of by bankers draft. We thought great. But here's the catch - they wanted £670 up front to cover legal fees which my husband paid by Nat West Advantage Gold credit card. I was incensed with his actions and he tried to stop the transaction with the bank but they could not do anything about it. Veronica then phoned me at my place of work. I asked her if ETOO was a Spanish company - answer no. I asked if they had dealings with Club Class - answer no.nothing but a pack of lies. When the package came the following day - guess what? it was from Spain. We thought we were dealing with a British company and therefore covered by a 10 day cooling off period. I sent a registered letter to Mill Hill London cancelling this verbal contract and demanding our money back. Our registered letter never arrived so the Post Office are looking into this for us. I sent a letter to the bank asking them to investigate. They wrote back saying they could not help as "this was a change of mind". How can this be a change of mind when we were told a pack of lies? Is there any avenue i can take to get the bank to change its mind or can this company be blacklisted? Should we take it to Watchdog? We await any positive reply. - Joan J

ETOO is mentioned around the 10th paragraph.

Thanks for the prompt response S Coghill. They've not e-mailed any information has promised so don't expect a call in two weeks. If I do I'll let you know their explanations when questioned a little more thoroughly. These people have no apparent conscience, obvious no morals or remorse, a waste of existence if you ask me.

Best to take a look on the OTE website www.ote-info.com and look at the members section. There are a few resale companies who are members. If you want to sell your timeshare, it is best to deal only with one of these companies - never pay anything up front to a resale company.

Etoo ring us every 2/3 weeks with the same banter but they say they can sell atimeshare we own i Puerto del a Cruz for £6000 per week if we pay the costs upfront. This complex has been closed for 8 years they say they have russian buyers. it dosnot matter who they have its still CLOSED.
We and our friends have bought and sold timeshare with Jason at Visions of the World they advertise in Mail on Sunday they have always been excellent.I have passed them on to lots of happy customers.

Etoo have been pestering me this week and were 'horrified' that I was considering giving them back. Under no circumstances am I paying anything up-front under any banner. Now the fees have been issued, I WILL be giving them back, in my opion it is far too much. Personal circumstances is that my first financial obstacle xmas.

>David, please do us all a favour and tell etoo that word is out they are a bunch of low-life scum. I'm embarrassed to say I got scammed by them. They told me they had a buyer for my weeks and I would receive my money in 90 days AFTER I parted with over 500 quid. It was Veronica who fleeced me. Just please let them know we are now on to their deceptive and dishonest operation.

Tina, sorry to hear you got 'scammed', it was some ‘scumette’ calling herself Patricia, telling me to give some ‘reputable’ outfit a call to confirm their ‘honesty’, to look for their advert on ‘Sky’s’ travel channel.

My opinion is it’s another sad reflection on timeshare that allow ‘people’ like these to operate. Well my weeks are going back, I can’t sell them without these ‘parasites’ surfacing every few months, so happily giving them back to CLC.
