Just back from the paradise. The soundproofing at murphys bar has worked no problems with noise now.Entertainment was reasonable, just a bit short on atmosphere though,- a lot better than nothing at all.The improvements to the car parking and gardens were excellent. There is also a new footpath from reception down the hill to the rear of Netto.
The new shopping and cinema complex is now open at the bottom of the hill.

What do people think about the proposed guest certificate charge.
My opinion is that it is just another way of CLC to get more cash out of our pockets.
I often allow members of my family to use my weeks as business often do's not allow me the time to use them.

I believe we are paying way over the top as it is, compared to other resorts we are paying in the region of £60 - £80 more per week owned, this includes other CLC resorts. WHY.

Hi David, been reading about your contact with ETOO. I also
had a phone call from this Company by a gentleman called
Mathew King about selling my 4 weeks from Club Class Holidays, very convincing. I am now very worried after reading reports about this company as I too also paid up front for the privilege of receiving £5000 for the sale of my 4 weeks. I now await the outcome, but reading all these comments about ETOO I fear the worst. NO FOOL LIKE AN OLD FOOL.

Hi,

Can anyone give me details experiences of Palm Tree Leisure.
My parents have a timeshare ripoff from Sunterra at present.
They have had it for approx 15 yrs, i'm not sure how many
points they have but recently Palm Tree Leisure have offered
them over £15,000.

Obviously very tempting and my sister and I have encouraged
them to sell for years. They have an offer in writing but my
parents apparently have to pay them a sum of money to show
their intentions to sell. So my dad has actually given them
his bank details already. I don't think they have had any
money removed from their account but I am v dubious as to
the nature of this transaction.

The whole things a ripoff and the quicker they get rid the
better but something smells a bit fishy to me.

Any info would be greatly received.

This is printed on here with the permission of owner who put it on another CLC members site

Hi all,

I rang one of the PC EMD on Wednesday night to see what "our" club fees would be, though Mr Burton knew the figure he was not willing to disclose this until the official letters went out. Why? he thought it unwise . He did say however that it was around the 5% mark, though until the exchange rate and inflation rate was taken into account an accurate figure could not be given.

I explained that since the £ against the Euro had risen back in favour of the members and the inflation rates in Europe had also come down since the BIG hike in 2003 what reason was there for an increase, the £ was back in the members favour by 4.5% and the inflation rate had come down by 1.2% . I also pointed out that CLC were very quick to use these as an (excuse ) reason to put the manangement fees up and more by these figures, though they are now very slow at redressing it. CLC use an exchange rate of 1.37 Euro, the actual official rate is 1.49 Euro and the official tourist exchange rate is 1.42 Euro this is absolutely ridiculous and in my opinion robbery.

I then asked Mr Burton if the EMD had a say on how much they went up, Mr Burton replied " NO, the CLC accounts team forward a figure to the meeting and this is either passed or not. If it is not passed the actual sites will suffer because the management (CLC) will not spend on the site. This again brought me back to the question I posed to Mr Burton and Mr Lomax when they in my opinion sold the membership down the river...(And I expressed this at the time to all the EMD's in phone calls )...by their action of letting CLC switch the method of paying the managements fees to CLC.

1) By switching to the new payment method NO accounts have to be made available to members. Now by this very fact, I would myself had said no this is not reasonable and too BIG a decision to make , let the membership decide at the next AGM.

2) If they had kept the old method for which accounts HAD to be made available, then indeed CLC couldn't in my opinion put undue pressure on the EMD to pass big increases by saying investment would be withheld or imply this in anyway they do.
All the money would have had to be set off against what was collected and if indeed CLC were to be found correct that big investment was needed and it was actually been spent on "our " site, then at least the membership could see it in the accounts.

3) And finally I asked, CLC had stated back in 2003 in the minutes which I still have copies of and which you can find HERE , that by taking this route of switching method payment it would indeed BRING DOWN the management fees , and this decision could be reversed at any time. I asked Mr Burton if now was a good time to ask the membership if this needed doing? Reply no comment!!

PS.. Just done a quick calculation of increase since switching payment method to CLC instead of coming down as stated it has actually risen by 54%

We were offered a free holiday by club costa and paid an admin fee airport charges etc up to £500 in the end. They told us the company had gone bust and they said they do not give free holidays they are provided by someone else called worldwide vacations in Bath weeks before our departure they went bust so WWV holidays and promotions had taken on our holiday and we had to pick more departure dates again we thought we were going away and surprise the company went bust and was taken over by Lets Go in Bath and a year or so down the line it happened again and was taken over by Promo World travel in Bath . I dont think they had any intention in giving out holidays they just change the name of the company and try to get as much money out of you as possible.

Does anyone know how much it would be to rent a 1 bed for week 34? It would be just for 1 person (just me). I'dlike to visit my parents and think I'm a bit old to be sharing their apparment now!!
