Subject: Will an adult cat hurt a kitten?

I have always thought that older cats won't hurt a kitten. None of mine ever have. Moki actually loves kittens and tries to "mother" them. Two others (both female) don't really like them and hiss a bit, but are very tolerant. Now I have two (female) kittens from a foster litter of 3 that still haven't been adopted (and probably won't be for a while as they are a dark tortie and black and nobody seems to want dark colored cats. Foster 'mothers' please see my other post.) They are almost three months old and I'd like to let them play in the house with my cats. BUT -- here is the problem -- RAVEN!!! He seems to really bitterly hate the kittens. As you may recall, Raven is my "baby" who is just a year old now. It is probably my fault as I have petted him and fussed over him so much that his "self-esteem" is out of control. One of the kittens got out into the house one day and Raven went for her as though he really planned to catch and kill her. Like he would chase prey. I think he really planned on having Mamie (the kitten) for dinner! Of course I scolded him for it but I don't think he cared. He just glared at me resentfully when I rescued her. I have a wire screen-guard gate that I put up at door of the kittens room to keep them from bolting now when I go in and out of that room. (They could climb over it in a minute of course, but I don't give them the chance.) Well, every time they are in that enclosure formed by the gate and the hallway wall, Raven sits or stands there, hissing and growling at them. Willow (an older female) sometimes goes in their room (she just jumps the gate) and steals some of their food. She hisses at them, but like "get away from me brat!" but not really threatening them. My question here -- do you think Raven would really hurt them? He was such a sweet kitten. Have I created a monster? Is there anything I can do?
