Hi Rob,

Who cares about what the magazines have to say? We all know it will be nice. Not a bad thing to say. Waste of time to read if you want critical comments.

You have 100% credibility with me! I'd sure like to hear what you observed in the field. I can guess half of it.

The Garrett did not get the depth on the GP Extreme. Probably noisier under some circumstances on ground or some hot rocks. And let me guess... your friend trusted the iron id and walked from a target. You dug it anyway, and it was gold?

I really agree with you about all the hype. It's time to get past the hype, and just get no bull field reports. My personal belief is that the Infinium falls somewhere between most VLF detectors on one side and the Minelabs on the other side in terms of performance in mineralized ground.

I can't seem to get any comments on where in the middle that might be. So far everything is comparisons to the SD or GP, and the consensus is that the Infinium falls short. OK. So, how about some idea as to how it compares to machines like the GMT, Gold Strike, or XT18000 for performance in mineralized ground.

To me a comparison of the Gold Strike at $995 list or XT18000 at $930 list and the Infinium at $1250 list is something more people might be interested in. A comparison of detectors in roughly the same price range. Not comparisons to detectors costing many times more. No one doubts a $30,000.00 sports car will outperform one for $10,000.00. Why the expectation that detectors are any different?

So come on Rob, tell us how the GP Extreme kicked Infinium booty! I really am interested, and I know you'll tell it straight. But if you can add anything to the other half of the question, I'd sure be curious. How does the Infinium compare to VLF detectors in highly mineralized ground?
