Subject: Everything about what's happened today...

Cries out for something better than what the media tells us we have to chose from. Not only is the Presidential race close, questionable and potentially scandalous, but the Senate is split as well!
The near-former First Lady is soon to be a Congresswoman from a state she knows virtually nothing about... The state of Missouri just elected a corpse... The Democrats are still bitching about Nader's bid for President and for the first time in our history, a Presidential candidate has retracted his concession to another candidate.
If I didn't know better, (and who's to say I do?) I'd have to believe that the apocalypse was at hand.
If this isn't the most profound example of the ineptitude of the two-party system in the history of our country, I don't know what is.
No one partisan ideology has built a consensus among us.
No one man or woman has truly grasped the heart and soul of our nation!
Why indeed, do we find ourselves in such a dead-locked situation?
If you don't know, I'll tell you strait out. The majority of us are NOT Republicans, NOR are we Democrats. We are, by definition, Independent inasmuch as we are individuals with our own ideologies, and value systems.
Yet, for one reason or another, we feel compelled to vote for people that we don't like, don't understand, don't believe, don't trust, don't admire, don't respect and don't feel are the most qualified leaders among us.
I submit to you that we, as voters are fundamentally to blame for the "grid-lock" that we, as a nation have created in our government. I would, furthermore like to add that we, as a people do not need to continue down this road we currently find ourselves on. We HAVE a choice! That choice is one of individual expression...one of character and integrity. Those are words you hear so often from political candidates but, by virtue of their deeds rarely ever witness.
I call upon each and every one of you reading this now, to look at yourselves the next time the television, newspapers or internet newsgroups asks you to chose between only two of the many people running for any particular office in the land, and pick the man or woman you REALLY feel is worthy of
representing you and yours. If you won't do that, then democracy is truly lost, and all of us along with it.
