Don't you just love playing with irony and paradox? I like it because it leaves the reader open to many internal interpretations as it applies to their own lives.
Your descriptions like "claustrophobic in a void" evoke a surreal sense of burdened weightlessness and I like the feel and texture of it. But I particularly like the the observation of "tragedy", it is most certainly an ironic and incongruous mother for art; the beauty of and in pain.
The only line that I don't grasp and doesn't seem to fit in the flow is the one about the varlet. I re-read it several times and I actually like it better without that line. I just can't incorporate it into the "whole" picture you're painting here (but sometimes I can be dense ~grin~).
On the whole, I found it to be very vivid, emotive and provocative. You developed a strong mood, challenged the reader to "feel" an atmosphere and I think you were successful in creating and maintaining that atmosphere.
Bravo.
Bless you.
