rely on the federal government to make improvements to benefit your city. How is it that the federal government is responsible in a local matter? Just WHO funds the federal government? You act as if $33 million of federal funds should just be forked over for improvements to the city of New Orleans, a city with a population over 500,000. Do they not have the means to raise the funding for such a project themselves? Does that mean my little town of 24,000 has the right to federal funding in the amount of $35 million because we needed a new high school? WE, THE TAX PAYERS, ARE PAYING FOR OUR NEW SCHOOL, WHILE PAYING A LARGE SHARE OF THE TAXES NECESSARY TO FUND DETROITS CRUMBLING SCHOOL SYSTEM. Please explain WHY I should be expected to bail out (pun intended) New Orleans, when they have not put forth the effort themselves? Is it just a leftist prerogative to redistribute the wealth?
