Hi,
I know this is a older post but I wanted to share some with you too. Like Sharon we had had some aggressive problems with our male. He didn't like anyone coming into the home, we bought a pinch collar and started the training again, this did miracles. He now wiggles when people come over and is not aggressive at all, but he will give out a couple barks to let everyone know he is there!! lol
I will also agree with Sharon that this is NOT the first time large, dominant breed to own. I don't know who told you that the CC is less dominant in the Mastiff family, that is just not true.
You will also come across HD, mange and other physical problems with the CC not to mention aggressiveness, fear aggression, dog aggression, etc.
If this will be your first dominant dog and you just can't live without having one I suggest you get a trainer as soon as you get one to allow you to know what to do along with training your pup right from the start. If you can't be the Alpha in the home, don't get the dog.
I am the Alpha, my husband is working on it, since he isn't home like I am our CC's don't listen to him like they do me.
You have to be stern with them or they will take over!
They are not the breed for everyone. They are very loyal, loving dogs but do need MUCH attetion and I don't leave mine outside because of this, they will get lonely and since I have two, along with 3 Shar Peis they have lots of activity together along with companionship that the CC craves. We bought two at basically the same time and I am very happy that we did, they have each other when we are busy with our housework, yard work, etc.

Good luck and do your homework on the breeder! Don't let a convincing tone sway your decision, let them show you in writing!!
Kay
