The record for most sacks
by a Linebacker in a year is 11, held by 3 players. In 2005, Louisiana's Jermaine
Smith had 11, Colorado's Jeff Main had 10, and tied for 3rd was Mississippi's
Casey Urlacher with 9. Urlacher played LB3 the entire year, and from that position
was able to gather 69 tackles and 9.0 sacks. He also had 6 straight games with
a sack and did well against quality teams, especially near the end of the year.
Also, Mississippi surrendered only 262 points (8th best in the league, 2nd best
in Confernece) and was #3 against the pass, and #6 against the rush. Adding
all of these into the equation make us think Urlacher was more deserving of
