1: On critical hits, I think they could be interesting as long as you keep the effects subtle and temporary. Penalties and temporary disabilities could be interesting but I look at the critical tables in C&T and see thinks like permanent stat damage and instant death and they piss me off. So keep em subtle and temporary, that would be my only suggestion. Otherwise it sounds like some fun

2: I'm not going to do the obvious thing and extoll the virtues of 3E but I am going to point something out. In 2E, once you get the stats above regular mortal levels, you start to get godlike abilities, such as regeneration, spell immunities, etc... It would significantly increase our power levels to say the least, especially given the number of 18s we all have in our pertinent stats already. Just something to be aware of.

I disagree with the wisdom going up for everybody. This is already represented with the increase in ability during level gain. Only clerics, druid and maybe paladins and rangers should get a wisdom increase because this is something that they are specifically working on during their adventuring.
