Subject: Questions

I have a couple questions for the group.

1) What are your thoughts on “Critical Hits”? I am thinking of using/making a critical hit chart. The past session that we had Gord(ina) had a crit rolled on her by a Winter Wolf, I deemed that the wolf almost took her arm off. Gord(ina) will be rolling at a –2 then a –1 till it is totally healed. I would also think that with a crit, the injury would still hurt and not be up to full strength even if the character was healed to full HP. I don’t like the idea that a potion or spell can make it all better and good as new, it’s too much of a give me. I do like the idea that a spell or potion can save you or pull you from deaths door, but not put you back at perfect health. As I understand it, a critical hit is a near death blow or one that does major damage. I am thinking of playing; where you can get full HP back, but still have difficulties with the crit area until time has healed it. How much time? I don’t know, maybe roll a 6 side and let that determine days or weeks? I am still playing with the idea and was wondering what the rest of you think.

2) Stats, I have always had a problem with how D&D does stats. I find it hard to believe that a 1st level character has the same stats as a 10th level character. If nothing else I would think their wisdom went up for all classes and their primary attributes went up in their chosen classes. I know 3rd edition has changed this, but I am thinking of incorporating this into 2nd edition. What are some thoughts on this matter and how do you think it could best be accomplished? Should a point be given to a character every couple levels to use as they wish, or should points be given and only allowed to be used on abilities that the character has worked on or used most?
