I'd probably play something that was an in-facebook app (or something that could easily connect to Facebook or other social media.

Remember that with CSlam, it was just a sub-part of a popular wresting news site - so it could get an influx of new/fresh people from a wider audience. Wrassle tried to re-create that magic by moving Wrassle to be bigger and have news reporting, etc... but it never caught on. Mainly because wrestling circa 05'-06' when they were trying to do that was NOTHING like the popularity of it in 98'-99' in the prime of the Monday Night Wars and when SCSA and The Rock broke out as megastars.

What we have to do now is base it on something that's popular. And more and more games (and websites) are less stand-alone things and more connected to the mega empires of things like Facebook.

There was that Wrestler app which some folks played for a while, which wasn't terrible as a match simulator. It also let folks have control over the match by picking move-by-move rather than getting a click button and the randomizer does it.

But what it lacked was the roleplaying aspect. I'm sure there is a logical way to build it in to a Facebook app. It has to look better than just message boards, but still keep that basic type of format.

For the old school people - I think the folks who still want to play are playing and there won't really be some resurgance from us. You need fresh, new blood... and it has to be done in a way that would actually let folks easily find and play around with it. And if a facebook-app game is any good then the word of mouth will spread and the way those facebook invites and message board things pop up it will be able to spread faster than herpes at Carinvale.
