    Some slight rule changes from the past.

    HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:

    • Pick 10 celebrities who you think will die before the end of 2024. Iif there is a Wikipedia page dedicated to that person, they count as notable.

    • Select one of those 10 celebrities as your franchise pick. Only you can pick this person, and it is on a first come, first serve basis. Any of your 9 other picks can be celebrities that others have also selected, but the franchise will be unique to your “roster.”

    • If one of your picks dies, you are awarded points according to the scoring system below, and may select a replacement pick to fill your roster. If your franchise pick dies you may elevate someone else on your roster to be the new franchise or select an entirely new celebrity.

    • Updates to the status of the pool and scores will be made on THIS GOOGLE DOCUMENT: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17dcvx4oUxXD_fpDVV0rHVGRhoQAzI41HF5BWQ0SDVuo/edit?usp=sharing

    Scoring

    Points are generally awarded via a celebrity’s age:
    <31: 16 Points
    31-40: 14 Points
    41-50: 12 Points
    51-60: 10 Points
    61-70: 8 Points
    71-80: 6 Points
    81-90: 4 Points
    >90: 2 Points

    However, there are some scoring modifiers:

    • PRE-EXISTING (PE) CONDITIONS: A celebrity is only worth ½ Points to the player if another player calls out a celebrity as having pre-existing conditions. This is a health condition (other than age) that immediately threatens the person’s health. Dr. A (he’s a doctor) will make decisions on if a called condition is valid, although you may appeal to the “Supreme Court” (Bizcocho).

    • Another player must call out a PE within a week of that pick being selected. If it is not called out, the pick is worth full points.

    • If the celebrity who has a called out PE dies, the person who called the condition receives the other ½ Points that were deducted.

    • The Bob Rule: Bobs are always worth full points and are exempt from PEs.

    • Franchise picks are worth double points. e.g. if your franchise pick is 37 years old and does not have pre-existing conditions called against them, they are worth 28 points.

    Other Rules:

    • July Death Swap: Mid-year and dissatisfied with your still-alive picks? During the month of July you will be able to drop up to 5 of your picks and select new names.

    • You will be disqualified from the dead pool and lose for killing any celebrities yourself (this includes challenging celebrities to dangerous games, Max). Do not do this.

    • The Mr. Perfect Rule (in memory of Stormfire): If you select an already dead celebrity and they come back to life, only to die again, you automatically win the dead pool.

    TIMEFRAME & SENDING PICKS:

    • If you are reading this, the 2024 Board of Doom Dead Pool has begun. Unlike previous years there are no “deadlines” for when you need to get your picks in by. Individuals can join now, a month from now, mid-year, December, whenever.

    • All you have to do is send Dr. A your picks, and they will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. The sooner you send in your picks, the sooner you can secure a franchise that only you can have without someone else blocking you from selecting them.

    • Options to send picks to Dr. A include:

    1. Old School Style: Reply here on the Board of Doom (and get an extra 11th pick for FREE!)

    2. Make your picks on the Federation X Discord of Doom thread: https://discord.com/channels/778625416331919361/938441884211240990

    Remember that whenever a new or replacement pick is made by someone else, you have one week to call pre-existing conditions via the same forms of communications listed above.

    The 2024 BoD Dead Pool concludes on December 31, 2024 at 11:59:59PM EST, after which a winner will be awarded. The award will be absolutely nothing. Just bragging rights.

    Esteemed colleagues,

    From July 1-15, individuals will be allowed to drop up to 5 of their picks and select 5 new picks (the only exclusion being if someone else has already Franchised that person). You may also swap out your franchise by either totally dropping them from your team, or keeping them but franchising a different pick. You may not swap your franchise pick to a pick that someone else already has claimed.

    As a BOARD OF DOOM EXCLUSIVE written here on the BOD and nowhere else (not on Fed X Discord or the Facebook Wrassle page), you may also make your swaps two days early here (e.g. get first choice at any new picks you'd like to franchise and block others from getting). You may also swap a 6th pick if you really feel like revamping your team. Also, if you have not already been given a special bonus 11th pick - you may do so now.

    Here’s how it all works:

    Pick 10 celebrities (if they have a Wikipedia page, they count) who you think will die before the end of 2023. You get to name one celebrity as your Franchise pick. When you franchise someone, no one else can pick that person. If someone has already picked a person, you cannot franchise them. FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE, BITCHES.

    SCORING:

    Points are scored as followed:
    Age 0-30: 10 points
    Age 31-50: 8 points
    Age 51-70: 4 points
    Age 71+: 2 points
    Pre-Existing Condition: 1/2 points to the above

    A “Pre-Existing Condition” MUST be a health condition that immediately threatens the person's life. Magic Johnson may have HIV, but the fact is that he's been living with it since the early 90s, medicine has really evolved, and he’s probably healthier and in better condition than any of us. So that would NOT be a preexisting condition. Al Roker on the other hand… yikes. Not much good news about him out there these days, is there?

    Pre-existing conditions MUST BE CALLED by another participant in the pool before that celebrity dies. You can’t call a pre-existing condition on someone after they die and say “oh, that should have been called.” By then the time to call has passed (like the celebrity).

    On issues like drug use, mental health (e.g. stuff like past suicide attempts or a pattern of erratic unsafe behavior), Dr. A will make a person-by-person call on whether to accept that as a preexisting condition.

    REPLACEMENT PICKS:

    If someone you pick dies, you get to replace them on your list. If your franchise pick dies, the person you select is designated a franchise pick, so no one else can select them.

    SPECIAL RULES:

    The Joe “STORMFIRE” Gattus Memorial Mr. Perfect Rule: If you pick someone who is already dead, and who rises from the dead only to die again, you automatically win the league.

    The I Shouldn’t Have to Say This Rule: You will be disqualified from the deadpool and automatically lose if you personally kill any of the celebrities to get points. This is strictly prohibited.

    The BOB Rule: If you draft anyone with a form of Bob / Robert as their name, you may BLOCK one Pre-Existing Condition call and that person will be worth full points, even with such a condition. This may be done only once. If you have a team of 10 Bobs, only 1 may be protected from the PE call.

    The Ms. C Rule: If you pick Sasha Banks (Mercedes Varnado), your team will begin the year with -37 points.

    There is a SOFT, informal close date of MIDNIGHT Feb 1 that will not be strictly enforced if new people wish to join the league afterwards. There will be no formal hard close to when you can submit your picks as there was in previous years. So, if you only find out about this thing in July and want to join in then, feel free. Just know that by then half the year is already gone and you’ll likely be playing catch-up with others. However, also note that if you submit a list after Feb 1, it might be a while before Dr. A gets around to updating your information and adding you in to the official scoring document. Which is this document right here.

    In July, Dr. A may allow for a mid-year opportunity to allow people to drop picks and replace them. This will depend on sustained activity / interest.

    The 2023 Deadpool ends at 11:59:59 PM on December 31, 2023 EST, after which a winner will be awarded

    So I took the WWENetwork free month. And started watching the first years of Raw.

    And a conspiracy theory appeared in my head about Vince vs Ted; WWF vs WCW.

    Did Ted Turner follow the advice of maybe Ric Flair and purchase Hulk Hogan, then Bobby Heenan then the Steiners and selectively buy out all of Vince's talent from under him.. even some that were still under contract with WWF(Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, mr perfect, ted dibiase)

    After watching all of Raw 1993, skimming 94, skipping 95, and watching 96. I am in full belief that everyone on the WWF program was in, at the very least, a verbal contract with Turner/Bischoff/WCW. With Shawn Michael staying as 210lb "heavyweight" champion.. an over the top seller who would probably be the top draw for a long time to come.

    In the midst of the steroid court cases it would have been very easy to pull such a thing from Vince, and simply not telling those who remained loyal would also prevent his knowing.

    It probably wasn't until a few former WCW wrestlers showed up(notably: Steve austin and golddust)(no close friendship with any current wrestler on wwf) and treated Vince as a promoter and boss that he even caught on. Austin probably called Brian Pillman to WWF.

    With Hulkamania and the warrior's values as promotional affairs it would've taken 3-4 years for Vince to even begin worrying about revenue loss...

    Then Austin and Vince begins to feel better about everyone on his roster basically working for wcw while on his payroll(something dusty Rhodes would be happy to send the gold dust over for), when it happens. Saved WWF and ushered in the Monday night wars.

    WWF would use the unhappy former WCW draws/talent to put the underpaid/misused former WWF talent out of business.
