Subject: 2010 DEADPOOL

Ok, so Ed is off in Abu Dhabi for the next week, which means it'll be unlikely he'll actually ever do the new deadpool sign ups and stuff.

Therefore, I'll take charge of it. Just post your selections in a reply to this post.

Rules:

• Select 10 celebrities / notable public figures who you think are likely to die in 2010. I will be lenient in the definition of "notable public figure" to include anyone who has a Wikipedia article created about them (SPECIAL NOTE: Death Row Inmates with Wikipedia Articles Scheduled to be executed in 2010 are not valid.)

• FRANCHISE PICK - for your #1 pick out of your ten, the person you choose is someone that nobody else will be allowed to choose. So if you pick Abe Vigoda as your #1 first, nobody else will be allowed to list him. This means placing your picks up as soon as possible will get you the best chance at the names you want!

• RULE OF 50% - your list cannot be over 50% identical to any other person's list. That means you cannot pick over five names if those same five names appear on someone else's list who picked earlier. Again, this means placing your picks earlier is better because you can choose what you want more, and not be limited by someone else's choices before you.

SCORING:

• People aged 0-30: 6 points each
• People aged 31-50: 5 points each
• People aged 51-70: 4 points each
• People aged 71+ : 3 points each
• Preexisting Condition: -2 from age points

People with known pre-existing conditions which would make their death significantly more likely: -2 from that person's normal age score. For example:

--Amy Winehouse is 26. But she does a whole lot of drugs, and could pretty much OD any minute now. Instead of being worth 6 points, she would only be worth 4 points.

NOTE: To avoid any attempts later in the year to claim someone's pick had "known pre-existing conditions" in an attempt to lower their score, one must "call" it beforehand. Within 10 days after voting closes, anyone you believe that has been chosen who has "known pre-existing conditions," you must "call it." You must also provide evidence, such as an article, report, etc. supporting why it is valid that this pick is worth less. If it is determined to be a valid known pre-existing condition, anyone who chose them can swap that person out if they choose to (but why would you want to, because they're probably going to die anyway... it's just slightly less points).

"Being Old" is not a valid known pre-existing condition. Age considerations are already taken in account in the scoring system. e.g. Abe Vigoda is worth 3 points, as there is no significant cause to think he's about to die, other than the fact that he's old.

Being overweight is not a pre-existing condition unless the person can be described as "mortally obese."

Excessive Drug/Alcohol Use may be called as a pre-existing condition, so long as the person calling it cites evidence that such excessive use imminently threatens their life, there are reports/rumors in the media that the person is in poor health, etc. FOR EXAMPLE: Other than the Amy Winehouse example already above, another person who would qualify is Arty Lange, as there is much discussion that can be cited that health is extremely poor due to substance abuse, and he warrants a -2. Famous Rockers Ozzy Osbourne and Keith Richards have a famed history of drug/alcohol abuse, however there is no indication that they are currently still heavily abusing these substances, nor has anything been citing saying that their health is presently in serious jeopardy due to their past use catching up with them. If someone could produce such a report on either, they could be considered a -2, but not as of yet.

Individuals with "bounties" on their head (e.g., terrorists being targeted by a military, figures who have had a public "hit" put on them) are NOT considered to have pre-existing conditions, and are worth full points. Osama Bin Laden gets a -2 because rumors of his failing health, NOT because US/NATO military forces are targeting him. Insane KKK people putting a hit out on President Obama does not warrant him a -2.

Nobody who dies and is resuscitated will count. Comas don't count unless they pull the plug before the end of the year.

Picking people who are already dead will not get you points. Sorry Stormfire.

SELECTION PROCESS:

2010 Voting Closed January 31. After that, until Feb 10 there can be challenges on known pre-existing conditions to lower the value on some individuals, as well as replacements of picks if people are dissatisfied by their pick being given a lower value.

If someone dies before January 31, as long as you picked that person before the date they died, you will get the points.

ADDITIONAL PICK WHEN YOU GET A VICTORY: When one of your picks dies, you get the points AND you get to fill in the empty spot with a new pick. There will be an additional 5 days after this pick for people to question if they have a pre-existing condition.

TIME PERIOD: The contest will run until midnight, January 1, 2011.
