you can play point spread or straight win/lose/tie at the corner store but they have to be a parley. That means you have to pick at least three games (up to six) and all three (or whatever) have to be right. So get one wrong and you are out. With the straight pick(Called Proline) any game that is within 3 points in NFL is considered a tie for the purposes of gambling. I had Cinncinati on a ticket and they did not win by 4 so I lose. Had they won by 4 I would have gotten 3.5/ dollar as opposed to the Pit payout of 1.4, at tie usually pays around 3.2.

The Wash/Det game paid 1.8 for a wash win 3.2 for a tie and 6.05 for a detroit win. I didn't pick it but oh the payout. I can normlly win $50 a week on $5. I hit a good ticket in preseason getting $166 on a $5 bet.

NFL is the easiest for me to bet, Baseball is the hardest. Hockey so/so and basketball I always take the ties (anything with in 5 is considered a tie)
