I was the one who first went to DG about taking the shrine down, because I am the one who extended the offer of hosting it. I've already said all I wanted to say about my actions regarding Jen in the previous thread, so I'm not going to repeat it here.
I agree--whether or not Jen gave permission for the shrine to remain is beside the point, and that should not need explanation. I am sorry that I ever took pleasure in the shrine, much less that I raced to host it when the bandwidth became an issue.
The only reason that I did not ask DG to remove her shrine immediately, or take it down myself, is for that very reason. I wanted to give her the opportunity to find another place to host it if she so chose, rather than just jerk the rug out from under her. If it were me, I would be more than a little angry if a site I had put together were suddenly removed by the host, with no warning, whatever their reasons were. With that in mind, and since to my shame, I had been only too eager to host the site in the first place, it strikes me that it would've been in bad form to blindside DG with the demand that she take it down immediately.
For that matter, I also spoke with Jen, and at Jen's own request, the shrine is staying up until she, DG, and I have the chance to talk about it together. I wasn't expecting that from Jen, and don't know what her motivation is, but I don't care. I think I owe Jen the courtesy of abiding by her wishes, given my previous attitude toward her. Therefore, since she asked me point blank to wait until she talked with DG, the shrine is staying up, unless DG herself should decide to take it down for her own reasons.
