That's just not fair. :/ Seems like you should be able to petition for something, even if it's just to get your money back...so you made your travel plans privately, but with school backing? If you could help give me a better picture of who was responsible for what, I might be able to think of a solution. Maybe talk to a teacher or principal or the superintendent, or anyone else involved with this program...and ask them to speak to the travel company. $2000 is a lot of money that you should NOT have to lose.
