Subject: Rant of a Selfish American with Screwed-Up Priorities

Warning: Irrelevant, Selfish Ranting Ahead

Okay, imagine you�re a young, impressionable, na�ve-to-the-world sophomore, prepared to go on your first overseas trip EVER. You�ve spent months, MONTHS, saving up all the money you could get your hands on, getting really psyched up for the big event, and imagining how much fun you�re going to have with your friends. Imagine you�ve spent well over a year planning for this trip, and you�re fully prepared for anti-American sentiments, but you�re prepared to represent your country favorably.

Then, imagine your superintendent cancels your trip with barely a week�s notice, thereby nullifying your chances for a refund from your travel organization and basically completely screwing you sideways. Imagine you�re now out $2,000, have no chance of seeing Europe anytime soon, and are pretty much ready to kill anything that even breathes in a way you find unfavorable.

Anyone feeling nostalgic? No? Well, now I�ll be able to if anyone ever asks me. >_< I�m so royally pissed off right now it�s not even a little bit funny. I just want to find my superintendent and�throw snowballs at him. ;_; That�s about the extent of my control over this situation.

I know I sound totally selfish, and that it�s probably safer to stay in my country right now, �specially with all the anti-American feelings in France and Italy, but I was preparing for this trip BEFORE 9/11 and, with only a week left before I was home free, it was abruptly cancelled, thereby robbing my parents of $2,000 dollars which might have gone to better use, so I think I�and everyone else on the trip�have the right to get a little peeved at my procrastinating superintendent, don�t you?

Gah. I�ll descend back into lurkerdom and leave you all alone now.
