all apolgies for not getting back sooner
work has been a bitch lately

i feel like you are on to something here and maybe i can help elaborate

i think people are divided over negative and positive aspects of the spirit mainly because of their awareness and mental health, fear playing a big factor in all of that
humans whether we like to admit it, realise it or accept it we are still animals

our brains are comprised of a

frontal lobe
parietal lobe
occipital lobe
temporal lobe
cerebellum
brainstem

the limbic system (the many different cortical and subcortical brain structures)
* Amygdala: Involved in aggression and fear;
* Cingulate gyrus: Autonomic functions regulating heart rate and blood pressure as well as cognitive and attentional processing;
* Fornicate gyrus: Region encompassing the cingulate, hippocampus, and parahippocampal gyrus;
* Hippocampus: Required for the formation of long-term memories;
* Hypothalamus: Regulates the autonomic nervous system via hormone production and release. Affects and regulates blood pressure, heart rate, hunger, thirst, sexual arousal, and the sleep/wake cycle;
* Mammilary body: Important for the formation of memory;
* Nucleus accumbens: Involved in reward, pleasure, and addiction;
* Orbitofrontal cortex: Required for decision making;
* Parahippocampal gyrus: Plays a role in the formation of spatial memory.

in evolutionary terms, the limbic system is among the oldest parts of the brain and is related to the olfactory lobes
it can be found in fish, amphibians, reptiles and mammals

the prefrontal area of the cortex was sometimes surgically severed to cure severe emotional disorders,
there is circumstantial evidence that the limbic system also provides a custodial function for the maintenence of a healthy conscious state of mind

i believe this area if chemically inbalanced can lead to difficulties in decision making, delusions, and reverting to primitive methods of survival such as establishing pecking orders, sociopathic behaviors, depressive behaviours, antisocial behavior, isolation, unresponsiveness, basic fight or flight responses, maybe other mental health issues that in effect will affect the physical health of a person as well

you have to figure that primitive humans had segregated themselves many eons ago in attempt to establish dominance, security and protection for it's people and resources
that same genetic information has been carried within everyone for a very longtime and those that are less evolved possibly due to genetic defects, brain chemistry or just a general lack of self esteem, inability to trust in other people, or simply sociopathic disorders are more likely to be unbalanced and illogical thinkers

spiritually in my opinion i think karma plays a role
if the person was imbalanced in a previous life they will likely have to come back time and time again in order to learn their spiritual lesson(s) and evolve
to me that part is complicated but also simple and wholly misterious as it is apparently intended to be
i think if humans understood "everything" it would literally cause our minds to explode
i believe the real purpose of humans is to evolve by experiencing the physical and mastering or understanding the realm that governs it, divine energy or God, whatever you want to call it since "it" is spiritual energy seeks knowledge in the form of humankind, animals, plants, earth, everything really
somewhere in our spiritual agreements with the creator(s)and/or divine energy we made before inhabiting this realm, we made the conscious decisions to not be able to remember our purpose, our origins, our reason(s) for being here in order to grow and experience things anew
when our lessons are learned and we pass the "tests" we move on to a "better place" with new "tests"
and if fail or haven't learnt what we needed or didn't get or want...well we can, will or should come back here

and then there are those that totally transform themselves
and escape the "spiritual slavery" we have imposed upon ourselves and can experience new realities or even create them which i will elaborate more on later

might i mention the last paragraph might all be a BIG maybe...

=)

food for thought?

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a
little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."
-- Benjamin Franklin, 1759
