 prison has to be a pretty bad place. if peolpe who run the prison systems start provideing comfortable rooms, better food, etc then prison won't be as much as a punishment. maggi i agree with learning about why they killed and that the death penatly isn't the best way of solving a problem but if there is no penalty worth worrying about i'll rob a store myself. it would be nice if we didn't need to threaten but its nessasary. i feel that you post is a little idealistic. it would be VERY nice if we could live in a world where people would respect eachother out of goodness and not out of fear of getting in trouble but this is not realality. not at all.
one other point that i was thinking about.... THink of all the tax dollars that go to maintaining each prisoner (some are people are there for half there lifes) I wunder how much money it cost to feed the prisoners and provied whatever else they provide for each prisioner for their entire sentence(beds, sheets, saop, thootbrush, blah blah balh) If these poeple were gived the death penalty all theses tax dollars could go to medicare and to help the areas that have a high crime rate. with the goverment givng more money maybe there wouldn't be as many people robbing banks(i accknowlegde that the $$$ could be used for durgs and ect).this would be doing more to prevent further murders. i am not sure if i think this is right, this is jsut something i thought of while reading these posts
