Apparently you don't! I finally decide to talk about the subject that pleases you most and you totally blow me off. My point (and you know it) was that YEC falls apart at every physical level, except (you claim) at the linguistic level. However, even there you must make assumptions that can never be substantiated. You do not have the original manuscripts - not even one. Because we have no record of Jesus correcting any of the OT it is assumed it is as originally written. Even if it is 100% correct (it's not - probably close, but not 100%) you can never be totally certain you really know what the human author had in mind when he penned the text. What you do believe you know, about creation at least, conflicts with reality. I thought you could bring something useful to this discussion, but unfortunately all I am hearing is the same old tiring YEC rhetoric I've heard a zillion times. You obviously are not interested in being buddies, so I saw no reason to sugarcoat this response.

I treasure the Bible, and study it dilligently. You do the same. But, salvation is not found by studying the scriptures (or through hermenuetics). It is found in a Person. I have always known God is. He has revealed Himself through His creation (general revelation - which can be studied) and through His direct intervention in my life (personal revelation). The latter revelation can not be studied or fully understood, it can only be accepted, by faith. Not blind faith, but faith built on knowledge. Knowledge leads to trust, and trust leads to assurance.

I know God is. I know He created the universe and made all that is in it. I know my Savior lives because He changed my heart. That is all I know for certain. I am the first to admit I may be completely wrong in my interpretation of Genesis. The fact that I am willing to question the validity of what I believe is what encourages me that I am on the right track. Obviously, I do not get all my information from Christian sources - as far as I know the Pope is the only person alive that even claims to be infallible. I go to the experts in the field. However, once I gather information I do look to Christian teachers, my own Bible study, prayer, and the leading of the Holy Spirit to sort it all out. Once I believe I have my facts straight I let my critics tear at me some more. It is often painful. Sometimes it knocks me down. Sometimes it takes a while to get back up. In the end I believe it has made my faith far more honest. That is what I share with others. Don't know why I told you all of this but it seemed appropriate.

I spent the day at the zoo. God's creation is awesome!

Peace
Kevin
