Subject: cat and rabbit?

I know many cats and rabbits can be friends. I have doubts if it is possible about mine? My cat is chasing all the time birds and mice, and fights with squirells, racoons etc. She saw the rabbit from another room and her eyes just lighted up in that wild way and she started approaching in that hunting fashion...I called her away immediately and she knows what I mean by that (I have mice in a room where she knows she is not allowed to go, but no, I would never let the door open). How do you introduce a bunny and a cat? Should I even try? My cat never got along with any animal (not even cat) and she is 14 years old now and is quite a charcter. If it doesn't work it is not a big problem since the bunny will be living in my fiance's house mostly and only occasionelly here (when they go away or when it is too hot). So while she stays in my house she can be confined to my room, but it would be nice if she can go everywhere in the house and a bit in the garden.Should I try and how? thanks:).
