In reply to: jenny 's message, "litter training" on 14:51:28 04/26/02 Fri

When I started litter training my buns a few weeks ago, I took small bits of pee and poop from their normal area (of course it had old litter attached too), put it in the new litter box and then I cleaned all other areas that they'd pee'd and pooped in before with vinegar to get rid of their scent. Never have had a single issue with mis-guided potties since....except for yesterday when the baby decided to be spiteful and waited until I removed the box to be cleaned and peed all over the cage floor....that's just him being mean though, it's not normal :)

As for the sleeping in the box, my baby spent a lot of time in his box at first, but has lately moved to sleeping mostly outside the box. The 2 older buns don't do it as much unless I'm nearby and they hop in to let me know they don't want their "stuff" removed. They also spend a lot of time arranging the box in their cage...pushing it from one side to the other, turning it to different angles etc (they've got a 46x22 cage so there's lots of room in there for them to do so).

As for the age thing, my buns ages were: 6.5 y/o, 4 y/o and 3 months when I "boxed" them. Quite a wide range of ages and they all took to the box just fine so age shouldn't be a problem. I can't vouch for whether older buns take quicker/easier than babies do, since they all took to it immediately upfront.

Give it time, he'll come around :)
