H-B-K flashes over the big screen as “Sexy Boy” plays over the speakers, bringing out “The Heart Break Kid” Shawn Michaels to a mixed reaction from the crowd! Shawn bounces on the top of the stage before dropping down to his knees in prayer as fireworks go off behind him. He then crosses over his chest and goes to his feet, making his way down the stage, slapping hands with fans on both sides before entering the ring, breaking into his little strut before kneeling down into the patented HBK pose!









After a few moments, “I Don’t Suck!” blasts over the speakers to a HUGE pop from the crowd, and they then EXPLODE as Kurt Angle appears from the back! He walks partway down the ramp and stops, throwing his arms up above his head as his pyros go off behind him before going down to the ring and climbs inside, giving a little spin to his hometown crowd!


Kurt hands his gold medal off to Bridget Carter while staring at HBK, meeting him and SD! referee Brian Hebner in the middle of the ring for their instructions. However, as Hebner speaks, Angle and Shawn jaw at one another. Hebner then orders them to break apart and calls for the bell, officially starting this match! The crowd is FIRMLY behind Angle as he pulls his straps up, circling with the Showstoppa!

However, before they can lock up, Angle pulls away, shaking his head out. He then gets in Shawn’s face, jawing at him, and HBK retorts with a SLAP across the face to boos from the crowd! This fires Angle up and he goes right on the attack, swinging around HBK and ferociously drives him into the mat. Michaels keeps rolling, but Angle stays on him, jamming him right back down to the mat as he gets to his feet. Shawn squirms free, attempting to latch onto the ropes, but Kurt takes him over with a gut wrench and jams him back down to the mat! Out of desperation, HBK throws himself into the ropes with Kurt latched onto him, grabbing them and wraps his leg around the middle one for dear life!

The crowd then BREAKS out into a loud chant of “ANGLE! ANGLE! ANGLE! ANGLE!”


Marissa: “This is not the strategy that Shawn Michaels would have wanted to start this match with.”

Jax: “He can’t go toe-to-toe with Kurt Angle, but if he tries? Chock one up to Team Smackdown!, baby!”


HBK looks over at Angle in horror as he calls him back on, ready to go! They go to lock up, and Kurt quickly goes around him with another waist lock, bringing him up and over and onto his knees. Shawn goes right back up to his feet and goes around with a standing switch and locks on an arm bar, and then pulls him into a headlock takeover. Kurt immediately rolls Shawn onto his shoulders for a two count and then fights his way to his feet, leaning Shawn against the ropes and goes to fire him across, but HBK drops down to his knees, sliding across the ring, headlock in tact! Angered, Angle lifts him high into the air and brings him crashing down with a back suplex, but miraculously HBK holds on again!

Kurt kicks the mat in anger and almost gets counted down before raising his shoulder. He now goes to his feet and finally breaks free, shoving Michaels off into the ropes, but Shawn quickly runs him over with a shoulder block. Right back on their feet, Angle goes for a charging lariat, but Shawn catches him with another headlock takeover! Kurt releases a war scream and runs HBK back first into a corner, breaking the hold and DRILLS him with a fist to the mouth, but HBK counters with a scintillating chop across the chest! Kurt then retorts with a series of shoulder blocks to the mid section, taking Shawn’s feet right up off the mat and then drills him to his ass with a series of fists to the mouth to a pop from the crowd!

Angle backs out of the corner, firing himself up now and charges back in, but Shawn steps out of the way and pulls him into a schoolboy for a two count! Shawn then locks in a short-armed scissors to Angle’s shock. Kurt quickly counters by rolling HBK over onto his shoulders, but Michaels keeps rolling right back into it. They roll around the mat this way a few times before Kurt goes to his knees, and then to his feet, using his power to lift Shawn right up off the mat to a pop from the crowd! However, Shawn immediately floats over with a sunset flip, holding Kurt down for a two count!

Angle does a backwards roll free and to his feet, just for HBK to clothesline him over the top and to the floor! Shawn then brings forth a round of boos from the crowd as he skins the cat right back into the ring, and then immediately springs over the ropes with a cross body onto the hometown hero! Shawn pops up to his feet, bouncing on his toes and thumbs to himself, in complete control! He pulls Kurt up and connects with a few right hands, staggering him there. With Kurt dazed, he moves in for the kill with the Sweet Chin Music, but Kurt goes low and around, taking Shawn over with an Olympic Slam and DRILLS him back first into the ring post!

The crowd starts to chant for Angle as HBK flops around on the floor, screaming out in pain! Kurt now has new life as he stalks his prey, stomping all over him before pulling him to his feet by the hair, whipping him shoulder first into the ring steps! He then rolls Shawn into the ring and holds him down for a two count. HBK crawls to a corner, shaking his head out and pulls himself up. Kurt boots him in the mid section and then takes him right off his feet with a European uppercut. Shawn hits the corner and comes right out with a chop to the chest, countered by a right hand by Angle. Shawn then fires off another chop, and then another, working Angle into the middle of the ring and goes for a right hand, but Kurt goes around him with a HUGE German suplex, crunching him into the mat and pins him down for a two count!

Shawn rolls to his knees and tries to defend himself, hitting Angle in the gut with a fist, but Kurt responds with an overhand right to the top of the head. Shawn’s body rocks back, and Angle continues to hammer away on him before lifting him to his feet, placing him onto the top rope. He then follows him up, rocking him there and goes for a belly-to-belly from the top, but HBK desperately battles back, sending Angle crashing back first to the mat! Kurt rebounds to his feet as HBK flies off with an axe handle and catches him there, taking him over with a textbook over the head belly-to-belly suplex this time! Kurt then quickly latches onto HBK with an Angle Lock to cheers from the fans, but Shawn has it scouted and hops to his foot, leaping high with an enzaguri to the back of the head!

Kurt gets drilled with the kick and goes falling through the middle ropes and to the floor, rolling onto the ramp. Shawn rolls out after him, stopping once on the apron and surveys the area. He then mounts the ropes, springing off of them with a twisting cross body, crashing onto Angle and driving him onto the ramp! Shawn pops back up to his feet, but grips his lower back in pain as Angle crawls away on his hands and knees, circling the ring and heads towards the announce tables. Shawn follows him there, but Kurt drops him face first to the floor and locks on another Angle Lock! The crowd cheers as HBK uses the announce table to drag himself up and then shoves off, driving Kurt’s lower back into the ring apron, breaking the hold! Shawn then stumbles back and Kurt charges forward with a lariat, but HBK ducks it and DRILLS him with the Sweet Chin Music!

Kurt goes flopping back from the kick and ends up flat down on the table, knocked out! HBK tries to rev up the crowd, but they’re firmly against him. He slides back into the ring and back out to break the count. He notices Angle still down and out and decides to climb up to the top rope. He crosses over his chest before flying off with a HUGE elbow drop, but Kurt rolls out of the way and HBK goes crashing through the Spanish announce table!


“HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT! HOLY SHIT!”


Michaels lies flat down in the rubble, gripping the back of his head and kicks his foot on the floor, barely conscious. Angle leans against the ring apron, pulling himself up and slides into the ring. He remains there as Hebner counts Michaels out, clearing his head. Once the count reaches 8, Kurt rolls to the outside and pulls HBK up by the hair and pants, rolling him back into the ring. He positions Shawn near the ropes and decides to climb up to the top with his back to the ring, sets his feet, and then flies off with a picture perfect moonsault, right onto the canvas as Michaels rolls out of the way!

Shawn capitalizes, placing an arm across his chest, but Angle rolls free at the count of two. Both men now battle to their feet and start to trade blows, HBK switching to chops and takes control. He then kicks Kurt in the gut and lifts him with a vertical suplex, but Angle floats over, taking him over with a German suplex! Angle now holds on and connects with a second, and then a third to a HUGE roar from the crowd! Angle now goes to his feet, PULLING DOWN THE STRAPS and stomps up and down on the mat! He pulls Michaels up, lifting him high for an Olympic Slam, but HBK floats over with a sunset flip for a two count! Right back on their feet, Angle drills him with a knee to the mid section and fires him across. Shawn ducks a lariat and goes off the far side ropes, flying off with a forearm shot to the head that floors Angle!

Both men now lie down and out on the mat as Hebner gives a count to seven. Angle starts to pull himself up, using the ropes. As soon as he reaches his feet, HBK nips up to his feet, ready to fight! Kurt runs right into a fist to the head that drops him to the mat. He rebounds to his feet and Shawn drills him with another, and then a chop, followed up by an inverted Atomic drop and a body slam! HBK gets all fired up and climbs up to the top, setting up for a big elbow drop, but Angle does a backwards roll and runs right up the ropes, taking him from the top and JAMS him into the mat with an Olympic Slam! The crowd EXPLODES as Angle pulls it together long enough to crawl towards the Raw superstar, covering for the one, two, thre- NO! Only a two as HBK rolls free!

The crowd BOOMS with boos as Angle grips at his head, in complete disbelief! He then goes to his feet and pulls UP the straps before pulling them back down, latching onto his ankle with another Angle Lock! Michaels squirms on the mat, rolling to one side and then to the other before doing a frontward roll, sending Angle chest first into the corner pads! As Angle stumbles out, HBK goes for a German, but Angle tucks and rolls into another Angle Lock!

Shawn flips over onto his back and kicks Angle in the head and to the mat, but Kurt holds on firm! Shawn goes to roll forward once more, and Kurt goes with it, keeping it locked in place! Shawn now pounds the mat, popping up to his one foot and throws a reverse kick back, catching Angle in the gut and breaks the hold! Kurt stumbles back and then races forward as HBK comes up with a Sweet Chin Music, but Angle catches it and swings him around, taking him up and over with an Olympic Slam! The crowd then EXPLODES as Kurt grabs another Angle Lock, dropping to the mat and wraps his legs around Shawn! Michaels grips at his hair, trapped in the middle of the ring now with nowhere to go and is forced to TAP OUT!


“I Don’t Suck!” blasts over the speakers as Angle keeps a hold of the Angle Lock, only releasing it after a few moments! He goes to his feet, raising his arms to the approval of the fans and WOOOO’s in celebration! Kurt goes from one corner to the other, raising his arms to cheers from the fans! He then stands in front of the laid out HBK and holds his arms above his head for him to see. WOOOOOOO!
