Thanks Hillbilly. Do you know how many Israelites there were when Moses brought them out of Egypt? Just curious about that.

There is no accurate information as to the number who came out of Egypt with Moses. The guesses range from one to three million by most expositors I have read.

You can get a good idea from the following verses. Exodus 12:37-38 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. 38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.

If there were 600,000 men (and this could be adults as only children and not women are mentioned with the men)then you could see that the Israelites alone could easily number 1,000,000. Along with the Israelites were a "mixed multitude. If you take the middle ground which seems entirely reasonable you have a number of 1 1/2 million.
Think about this number when you think about the water from the rock and the manna and quail.

Not only the number of people but the vast herds that came out with them. That is a lot of water, food, grass and fodder that God had to supply.
