In reply to: Hillbilly 's message, "Gen 49 vss 8-12 Post 218" on 19:57:43 09/20/12 Thu

It was rich with many foretellings of Christ's second coming. A Jewish friend of mine is fasting today for Yom Kippur and during this time, she will pray to be worthy of having her name written in the Book for another year. The Jewish faith is so rich in the old laws and following tradition, but totally blind to Christ's having been here with us already. Their very own scripture tells them!
I often wonder how God's chosen race can ignore all of these signs and still think they are awaiting the FIRST coming of Christ.

go by what scholarship says instead of what the Book says.

The Priesthood, Scribes and Pharisees all felt threatened by a Jesus who did not conform to their expectations and taught the people Jesus could not have been the Messiah because He did not come as a conqueror. He disappointed them and they had been teaching the people what to expect when He came.

Christians today will believe their Elders, Preachers and Priests even when they teach contrary to what the Bible plainly says. People, respecting their scholarship, follow without questioning.

There can be no higher authority than the Word of God. If it is taken as the Word of God then it must believed over the teaching of man.

Never take what I write as gospel. Check it out against the Word.

You would never advance your own words over the Word, and you only represent yourself as a teacher, not a cleric in any church.
But I do know what you are saying, and I do agree, as well.
