Genesis 49:22-27 Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall: 23 The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him: 24 But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:) 25 Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb: 26 The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren. 27 Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.

The prophecy , while having fulfilled elements, could well be almost completely aimed at the tribulation and Kingdom that the "Stone" sets up after His advent. Joseph through Ephraim is synonymous with what Israel became during the time of the kings of Israel and the splitting of the tribes into the 10 northern tribes and the 2 southern tribes of Judah and Benjamin. The apostasy of Ephraim is completely omitted from this prophecy. All the idol worship and setting up of a false priesthood is omitted so I would assume the prophecy is speaking of the future victory of Joseph (Israel) at the end of the tribulation. The tribes under the banner of Joseph will at that time be very fruitful and the reference to the "utmost bound of the everlasting hills" speaks of an everlasting condition that cannot be found in Joseph and his two sons histories.

The reference to the "archers" can definitely have reference to the wars and battles that Joseph (i.e. the 10 tribes) fought throughout his history until the captivity and dispersion but we need to see the "archer" and his army that shows up in Revelation 6;2. No nation has ever been hated such as Israel (vs. 22) and it will come to a head for a final time when the anti-Christ and his armies try to wipe out Israel as the "final solution" (Hitler WWII). The victory of Joseph is found in verse 24. "The arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:) ". It will be the strength of God holding up the the arms that hold the bow of Joseph's progeny that will bring the victory. In God alone is victory and we are told that when all seems lost and that Israel will be annihilated that the fury of the Lord will go forth and destroy the anti-Christ and the enemies of God. The "stone of Israel" is the stone of Daniel 2:34 and it is preceded by the "Shepherd". Jesus comes the first time as the "good Shepherd" (Jn. 10:11-14) and the 2nd time as the crushing stone of Daniel 2. At that time He is "KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS". At that time He speaks with the sword of His mouth (Rev. 19:15,21) and the blessings of Joseph reach their final fulfillment.

"Benjamin shall ravin as a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil." The tribe of Benjamin stood out as being among the fiercest of the fighters in the armies of Israel. In Judges 20 we are given an account where 26,700 Benjamanites whipped 400,000 men of war out of the other 11 tribes. They were victorious in 2 battles and it was only on the 3rd attempt of the 11 tribes that Benjamin was beaten. The only reason they were beaten then was that God delivered Benjamin into their hands for Benjamin's sin of not putting away sodomy in their tribe. (see Judges 19 for the details of their despicable sin.

Benjamin produces warriors such as Ehud (Judges 3:15) king Saul (1 Sam. 9:1-2) and the most famous "warrior"; Saul of Tarsus who became known as the Apostle Paul. Saul fought mightily against the Church until "defeated" on the road to Damascus and then he fought mightily and valiantly for the One whom he had persecuted so vehemently. He had the battle scars to prove it. (2 Cor. 11:23-33) It doesn't say it but I would surmise it will be the tribe of Benjamin during the tribulation that will be the most fierce and tenacious in battle. Their victory as with the other 11 tribes will be in the deliverance of the mighty King the Stone of Israel.

Thus finishes the blessing's and prophecies of Jacob to his sons.
