In reply to: Hillbilly 's message, "Genesis 42 vss 1-8 Post 194" on 20:54:59 04/16/12 Mon

I like seeing how prophecy is revealed over time, such as what you pointed out: "In verse 6 we brought face to face again with prophetic events. Joseph's 10 brothers come before him and bow down to him. This fulfills the "near" prophecy of Joseph's dreams and he realizes it. There is yet a "far" prophecy that is at least 1,500 yrs. future and and another that is more than 3,500 years in the future. Joseph as a type of Jesus recognizes his "brethren" but they don't recognize him. Jesus came knowing who He came to but they did not know Him."
It reminds us that Jesus' most devoted followers didn't really know Him, either, until He revealed himself to them.

but we can't know Him either until He reveals Himself to us. The disciples knew who He was and followed Him but they could not know Him in a very an intimate way until they received the Holy Ghost. They then had access to the "mind of Christ" (1Cor. 2:16) All those born from above have this gift.

The Apostles were with Christ at the Last Supper and then he revealed himself to them after He was risen from the grave, but did they finally get it? Thomas had to put his hands into the wounds to believe it was truly Jesus and that he had risen from the dead--even knowing the whole plan. Or at least we assume the Apostles knew the plan. Knowing and understanding are sometimes worlds apart, aren't they?
It makes you wonder how many people who are born again or who proclaim Jesus as Lord really tap into the "mind of Christ" even though it is there.

is documented in the Bible. Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,. This alone did not guarantee they would have complete understanding. Notice the words "that they might understand" God enabled them to receive. They had a direct line to Him to understand. There is one other verse that completes what it takes: John 20:22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost

Your statement to the effect there are many who are born again but have never availed themselves to the mind of Christ is absolutely true. There are still a great many who are on the mild of the word and have never grown to the point of "eating" the meat of the word. (see 1 Cor. 3:1-3)

We cannot avail ourselves to the "mind of Christ" until we meet His requirements and seek Him and His truths with all our heart, mind and soul, and remain obedient to Him. This is impossible unless we truly are born again.

I know that I am one who needs to eat more of the meat, and I guess that is why I so enjoy your studies. I feel you have opened up a world to me that was there, but I just didn't see it. I do thank God daily for the blessing of having met you.
