Subject: Something Beautiful

My friend Dale sent this to me today. And wanted to share it all with you over here too. As it is so beautiful as well as true.

GOD'S Rosebud

A new minister
Was walking with an older,
More seasoned minister
In the garden one day.

Feeling a bit insecure
About what God
Had for him to do,
He was asking the older preacher
For some advice.

The older preacher
Walked up to a rosebush
And handed the young preacher
A rosebud and told him
To open it
Without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher
Looked in disbelief
At the older preacher
And was trying to figure out
What a rosebud
Could possibly have to do
With his wanting to know
The will of God
For his life and ministry.

But because of his great respect
For the older preacher,
He proceeded to try to unfold the rose,
While keeping every petal intact.

It wasn't long
Before he realized
How impossible
This was to do.

Noticing the younger preacher's inability
To unfold the rosebud
Without tearing it,
The older preacher
Began to recite
The following poem...

"It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine."

"The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so easily,
But in my hands they die."

"If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?"

"So I'll trust in God for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to God for guidance
In each step of the way."

"The path that lies before me,
Only my Lord knows.
I'll trust God to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose."

Please share this poem
With a friend
If you enjoyed
Being reminded
To let go
And let God
Unfold your life.

and such a truth it unfolds for us.

It is so hard sometimes to just "let go and let God".

Thanks for posting that.

Important because of who the writer is:

~ Helen Steiner Rice ~

-----------------------------

Granny Wren had it up at one of her sites and the "The Helen Steiner Rice Foundation" asked her to take it down...no reason given.

-----------------------------

Inspirational poet Helen Steiner Rice often uncredited

She turned a series of personal tragedies into a lifetime of inspiration. Her plans to attend law school were shattered when her father died during a flu outbreak in 1918. Her husband committed suicide in 1931 after the stock market crash. Nevertheless, she became a nationally known public speaker, a campaigner for women's rights and a writer of verse for Gibson Greeting Cards of Cincinnati. It is estimated that she wrote as many as 250 poems a day and 2 million during her lifetime. They have been translated into 20 languages. Many of the verses were not signed, which accounts for some of the anonymity.

You didn't do anything wrong. Gerard is just....well.... Gerard.
Bilbo made a good point, though, don't you think? When we see something we like and it doesn't have a name after it, let's Google it and see what ELSE we can turn up. I know I don't stop to question enough, either.
Thanks for sharing it, Sandy. God bless!

Actually, I did think about doing so. But chose not to having received many poems before without the authors name at all.

And will I ever post something again that is not right entirely. Probably so. :-)

Do I mind someone telling me it isn't. Not at all.

And yes, thanks to Bill, I did finally find this ou. Which I truly appreciate. As if he had not told me, doubtful I would have known about it at all under the circumstances. Even though it was obviously known of course.

luv Sandy

There ARE both times and ways when source can be witheld or ignored.

If you had said "author unknown" all may have been fine.

I myself often give no 'real' credit but I get away with it because I say stupid stuff like "As someone once penned:" and then it be clear to the 'smart' people that they can Google it if'n they care.

A few use "source" as a weapon...if you had just been asked "who" all would have been goodly. I happen to like that guy (yes, I be sick :-)

Tis cute that some people think a 'copyright' means anything without constant enforcement...even with proper credit given that foundation thingie just has to ask and you best remove...patent infringement works about the same...ENFORCEMENT, and that takes $

luv,
