Subject: Grace Period (See NMMA Message Board!!!!)
In reply to: Shaun Brandt 's message, "Here's why it's illegal" on 07:29:30 07/25/06 Tue

I see that the NMMA officials have now decided to allow a grace period on this TPS mess. Take a look at the NMMA message board for details.

Some things to ponder during the grace period:

How do we plan to tech this?

Granted the "locked" (siliconed or glued) sensor or the missing sensor or the Odum TPS plate is easy to spot, but what about the guys who can "rework" the inside of the TPS. Or what about those who wire in resistors to the harness to trick the computer and what about a "bad" TPS (non-working) or what about the ingenious people who utilize the existing slotted mounts on the TPS to change the zero and 100% points so the ignition curve is not "normal"?

In five years, I have had three "suspect" sensors and one of these was brand new - so they do go bad. You will not notice a bad sensor much on a carbureted engine, but it is HUGE on an injected engine!!!

The point is: This was discussed in years past and it was decided that it was NOT a big deal - now we decide to change it without checking how many people will be affected.
