Chapter 75
Lami was still drunk and was shaking his head
Lami: No Krystina, you cannot have my keys, why? Cos I’m not going anywhere y’hear? No f****** where, wanna know why? Cos I’m going to see Momma and let her know her other son’s here for her
Krys: And y’think it’ll help her if you’re drunk? N***a please! I know you’re drunk but you ain’t stupid! If I let you go now you’ll get back in that car and probably kill yourself as well. Now give me the keys to your car
Lams looked deflated and gave her the keys, and went into the passenger side of the car quietly. Krys got into the car and began driving
Lams: Where we going?
Krys: We’re going over to my place so you can sleep it off, I’d take you to Des but I know she’s gone over to Cash’s place.
Lams: Ok then, that’s cool
They drove in silence, Lams did not cry, he did not like crying in front of girls, the only girl he’d cried in front of was Des and that was when he told her Shawn had died. Krys looked at him occasionally but said nothing to him.
They got to her house and she led him up to her room.
Lams: I really appreciate this Krys, thank you
Krys: Anytime for a friend
Lams looked around
Lams: You ain’t really done much to this place, its been a while since I been here
Krys laughed a little
Krys: Now lets keep it that way
He took off his jacket and sat on the bed taking off his shoes. Krys went to get him a glass of water downstairs and came back upstairs and handed it to him
Lams: Thanks
He drank it and laid on the bed and promptly fell asleep
Krys smiled and went out of the room. She went downstairs and called Des on her cellphone
At Cash’s house, Des had finally put Cash to sleep- Cash had not slept for days since the news broke out- it’d been about 2-3 days. Des’s phone rang and she left the room to answer it. She was in the bathroom
Des: Hello?
Krys: Hi Dessie its Krys
Des: Hi Krys how are you?
Krys: Under the circumstances I’d say I’m okay. How’s Cash?
Des: She’s finally gone to bed, took ages to get her to sleep but she’s still not so good. So what’s up?
Krys: I just wanted to let you know I have Lams at my place
Des: What’s he doing there?
Krys: I saw him on the way to Shawn’s place and he was drunk
Des: He’d been drinking?
Krys: Heavily
Des: But he never drinks
Krys: I know, but he’s very drunk and I couldn’t bring him to yours as you’re with Cash, I didn’t want to take him home as I was afraid that if he woke up he’d do something stupid, so I brought him here just to sleep it off
Des: Thank you so much girl
Krys: And just to be sure, I’ll drive him over to yours at night when you’re back home and I’ll just ask Lib to come and get me there
Des: I really appreciate that
She was about to continue when she heard Cash scream in her sleep
Des [hurriedly]: I gotta go Cash just woke up. I’ll see you later tonight
Krys: Okay then bye!
Des hung up and ran back into the room. Cash had sat up straight in her bed, tears streaming down her eyes, Des ran to her side and cradled her head in her arms
Des [rocking back and forth]: Its alright babygirl, I’m here, its okay baby shhh…..
She kept on talking like this while Cash was babbling
Cash: I saw him Des I saw Shawn, I saw my baby covered with blood in pain, I saw him Des, he held me tight, some of the blood came off me, Oh my God, Oh My God, Oh My God! Shawn, Shawn, why’d you have to leave me
Cash began crying even more, Des closed her eyes tightly trying not to cry
Des: Baby its okay, its okay
Cat and Jiz were over at Jackie and Jamal, they’d all just come back from Shawn’s parents place, they all looked worn out, even Symphony looked tired and she’d even began to fall asleep in her daddy’s arms. Jackie looked at Jamal lovingly, he returned the look
Jackie: All this has made me realise that I cannot be mad at people I love any longer, its not worth it cos we never know when we or they’d be gone
Cat: You’re right J. Man I can’t believe Shawn’s gone. He used to annoy me before but he was a decent friend to Lams when no one was there for him, and him and Cash were too adorable these past couple of months. They woulda had the perfect life together. I just don’t understand why they shot him!
Jiz: What Shawn’s brother told me was that he was supposedly messing with one of the gang’s girlfriends which was not true. The girl was asking him about her boyfriend who is like one of the top dogs in CVG, and that Shawn should tell the guy she was going shopping and wouldn’t be able to make their lunch date. Apparently one of the mini cronies in CVG who never really liked Shawn cos Shawn hadn’t been there as long as this particular guy yet he was on a better level than he was; well this guy saw Shawn talking to this girl, didn’t really know what they were talking about and went and told the girl’s boyfriend he’d seen Shawn with his girl. The git that that idiot was believed the crony and being a top dog he didn’t need to consult any other member before he ordered the hit on Shawn
Everyone sat in silence after this
Jamal [quietly as Symphony was sleeping in his arms]: So they killed Shawn based on hearsay?
Jackie: It seems so.
Cat: So what’ll happen now?
Jiz: I’m guessing that by now the main leader should know, the truth will be found cos I think the girl has gone to speak to her boyfriend and told him the truth. If this happens, heads will be rolling by now. I don’t think Shawn will be the only one to die, there’ll be more
Cat: How’d you know?
Jiz: My brother used to be in CVG?
There was silence again
Jackie: Cash must be so heartbroken, how’s she?
Cat: Des’s with her right now
There was silence, only sound made was that of Symphony as she slept despite the debacle around her. It made Jackie smile that despite all the drama, babies could still retain their peace and sleep well.
It was around 8pm when Lams woke up, his hangover was over as Krys had woken him up halfway into his sleep and gave him a glass of water to drink. He wore his shoes and jacket and went downstairs where Krys was already waiting for him
Lams: thanks Krys for today I really appreciate it
Krys: Anytime Lami, plus I knew Des woulda done this for you but she’s helping Cash right now. I told her I’d be bringing you back to hers
Lams: thanks. Don’t worry I’ll drive now
Krys: Oh no you ain’t, I’ll take you there and Lib’ll come and get me at Des’
They got in the car and Krys drove
At Cash’s place it was like 7:30pm, Des was about to leave, Cash was finally getting to sleep, they had given her Valium to sleep and her Mom was going to stay the night in her room
Des: Sweetie I’m going now
Cash [groggily]: Dessie you coming back tomorrow?
Des: Do you want me to?
Cash: Yes Des
Des: Okay then I’ll be back at around lunch time
Cash: Thank you Des
Des went downstairs and Cash’s mom followed her
Cash’s Mom: Thank you so much Des for coming, I don’t know what I’d have done without you here
Des: Its okay, it was my pleasure. I’ll be coming back tomorrow. I gotta go make sure Lams okay, him and Shawn were best friends
Cash’s Mom: Oh yeah.
Des: Alright then I’ll be going, I’ll see you tomorrow
Cash’s Mom: Alright then sweetie, I’ll see you tomorrow.
Des was home before Lams and Krys. She was in the kitchen cooking when she heard a car approach. It was Krys and Lami. She went to the door.
Krys and Lami in the car
Lami: Thanks a lot Krys
Krys: Anytime Lami
They both fell silent and Krys and Lami moved closer as if they were about to kiss [Des was watching] when Lami shook his head
Lami: We shouldn’t do this, I love Des and I don’t want to ruin it for anyone, not even you. Plus you got a good thing going with Lib, don’t lets make the mistake and do something we’ll both regret.
Krys: Yeah you’re right. Listen I know the last kiss we had was nothing, we were just caught up in the emotions of the moment.
Lams: Yeah. I know we’ll always have history between us and we never really talked about things and ended it properly. We know we’re not good for each other, we’ll be hurting ourselves and too many people, don’t let’s get fooled by the physical. I love Des and I’m not going to give that up for anything or anyone, losing Shawn is bad enough, losing Des would kill me. Can we just be friends?
Krys smiled
Krys: Of course we can. We were good together weren’t we?
Lami: Yeah but we’re better off apart
Krys and Lams laughed. Krys called Lib to come and get her. She got out of the car and walked to the street she told Lib she’d be. Lams locked his car and pressed the doorbell. Des opened and looked at him like she could kill him
Lams: Baby what’s the matter?
Des: Explain yourself, what the f*** was up, you were about to kiss Krys
Lams put his hand to his head
Lams: Oh My God, I’m sorry but I think you have the wrong idea. Krys and I were just laying past ghosts to rest. True we were about to but that was the alcohol in me, do you think I’m going to give you up for Krystina and ruin my life…again? Des I love you and no one or nothing can spoil that
Des: But…
Lams: But that almost kiss was nothing, me and Krys are just friends and I’m sorry, I never want to hurt you, please Des, please?
Des looked at him, his eyes were brimming
Des: Lams…
Lams: Des I need you now, please, I just lost one of my best friends, I don’t want to lose another one
Des had started crying, she looked at him and pulled him closer to her and he began to cry. This was the first time he’d cried since he found out Shawn had died. They were there for about half an hour
Des [quietly]: Wanna come upstairs and talk?
Lams nodded and followed her. They got upstairs Lams took off his jacket, shoes and shirt and he sat on the bed, tears were running down his face
Lams: I still remember hanging with that ni**a a week ago we were picking out a bracelet for Cash and now he’s dead
He began to cry again, Des held him sitting by him,
Des: Baby, you’ll be okay, you’ll be fine. We’ll get through this together
She’d also began to cry quietly, and through the tears she tilted his head higher and dried his tears with her hand, he also did the same for her with his hands
Lams: I love you very very much
Des: I love you so much baby
They began to kiss, and soon the kisses got deeper and soon he was on top of her [doing what lovers do]
Tyra was at Frostys waiting for Tony when a girl approached her table. The girl’s name was Marcia
Marcia: Are you Tyra?
Tyra: Who’s asking?
Marcia: Name’s Marcia, heard Tony’s scored with you and you’re his latest squeeze
Tyra: What’s that got to do with you?
Marcia: Just wanted to tell you that Tony asked me to tell you you’re dumped
Tyra: What?
Marcia: Yeah, I’m here to meet my boyfriend and he wanted me to tell you to f**** off and leave him alone okay?
Tyra: you’re lying
Marcia: Call him yourself and see
Tyra dialled Tony who picked up
Tony: Who this?
Tyra: Babe its me Tyra
Tony: Didn’t you get my message?
Tyra: What message
Tony: About us being over, and I don’t wanna hear from you again? I mean didn’t Marcia tell you?
Tyra was shocked
Tyra: I can’t believe this, we’re over?
Tony: Babe we never even began! Look I gotta go, bye
He hung up on her
Marcia: Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, I gotta go
Tyra: Thanks. So do you know Tony?
Marcia: Unluckily yeah, he was my first, was pregnant by him, aborted the baby and got my life together and a new man.
Tyra: You had a baby by him?
Marcia: I would’ve but when I told him I was having his baby he told me where to go and I wasn’t going to have a baby fathered by a creep. Now its all water under the bridge and he’s history. He had me on his list and sadly I let him win.
Tyra: Damn
Marcia: Oh well I gotta go, got to meet my man
She turned and was about to walk away when she suddenly turned around and said
Marcia: Oh by the way, watch out for Tony’s cronies, you’re next on their agenda, oh and warn that girl Mia, Tony’s looking to “convert” her
Tyra: Thanks.
As soon as Marcia left, Tyra ran outside and threw up. She went home and still felt sick- she’d been feeling sick for a while now. On her way home she picked up a pregnancy test cos that talk with Marcia worried her
She went into the bathroom and took the test……….
Angie can’t w8 to c ur next chapter, the last one was so good!
