.. to our own opinion.
Mine is that Richard did a lot of "Grace baiting" before she went into the main house for her 21 minutes to see what would happen, and then wanted to find out if there had been a slanging match afterwards.
That he had the grace (no pun intended) to be embarrassed by his DR rants about the Plastics, and eventually made his peace with them all is, to me, the sign of an honest and mature person. I've said before that the DR is a way of venting frustrations over other HMs so that some form of cordiality can be maintained in the shared spaces, and I see nothing wrong with it - and neither did the targets of his venting so why should anyone else.
Richard is desperately lonely in the house:
a) He has little connection with Aisleyne; because of how vile she was to his friends in the week before she got sent nextdoor he doesn't feel he can trust her (and I'm with him completely on that one).
b) He has little connection with Glyn because Glyn chose to hang with his arch nemeses (the Plastics) in the end, and went right off on one about Susie just because everyone else was coping with the shock of seeing Grace by laughing at her chucking water at Susie, and Susie was one of Richard's friends.
c) He gets on OK with Jennie, but she's not been in the house long enough for him to form the kind of friendship with her that he had with Lea and Nikki before.
d) The only people he feels he can consider his friends in there - rightly or wrongly - are Nikki and Pete, and they're so puke-inducingly besotted with each other that the only thing he can do for company is hang around and wait for them to come up for air occasionally.
Richard really needed his pal Lea in there for some morale support in the final week, but instead chose to do something for his friend Pete to relieve the latter's love-sick moping by bringing Nikki back in. And I believe he did drive that decision, and could easily have chosen the more selfish option of bringing in Lea, seeing as Aisleyne and Jennie, and even Pete, said that they would be happy with the choice of either.
There seems to be, for some reason, a blinkered determination around on several forums to not understand and appreciate someone who is, essentially, a nice enough - but wickedly humoured - and honest seeming bloke, and I'm reaching breaking point with it. >:-(
As for She Who Must Not Be Named. Why the sudden decision that she's alright after all? I'm afraid nothing will ever change my opinion of such a scheming, screaming, hypocritical, black wannabe slapper. She was one when she came into the house, and she'll be one when she leaves. End of.
