we are a small site and got a great deal on hosting to keep the br open.

in the contract (which I have argued tooth and nail over the past few days) it says we have backup, what this actually means is that the server has a mirror back up incase IT fails so it always has an exact mirror of what is held on the server on a seperate sever meaning it will never lose anything. This of course is totaly different from a site back up, which means that once a week take a back up of every file held on thier server in case something happens to a file.

I come from an online background and we take weekly backups due to the sites we host and the need to make sure there is always a backup, it was a totaly foolish and stupid error on my part to assume that our server did the same thing

The blame is totaly on me, I even told Alex that this was the case and was also the reason I wasnt distraught when we were hacked, beliving that I would be able to to get a back up dtatabase at the most a week old from the server.

It does not mean the server os negligent or cheap in the slightest, it is common practice to claim backup when you mean mirror, it was my fault in thinking it was something else, so the blame is with me. Had I known I would of personaly backed up the database weekly myself.

I'm affraid that due to this we will have to load my last backup which is quite old and will mean that a lot of members will have to re-register and months worth of posts will be gone.

I appologise and hope that those loyal to theblueroom will see this as a fresh start and carry on regardless. That is all I can ask.
