That sounds great! I'm so jealous! My mother traced our family tree, we are Cherokee. I have relatives actually born on the Trail of Tears, and survived it! Unfortunately, our family didn't get to sign on the Miller rolls by deadline, so we are not on paper. My Great Grandmother Anora put off registering because in thier area it was shameful to not be white and they had a lot of problems with the KKK. When she got back over to the eastern band (the Trail of Tears took them west), they told her it was too late. Though there has been inter-racial marriages and my hair is too light, I know that in my heart and in my blood I am a part of the Cherokee. It's a wonderful thing to be excited about your heritage, and it's especially important now to not hide it and be proud!
Blessings,Anita
