To all. If possible can people who post on this board please put more detail in messages. I am interested in knowing who won what Feis, not just that "a person named Mary, or whatever, won a Feis this weekend". What Feis!? With the deletion of the web page that used to list student's winnings, it is hard for us, who are interested, to know what is being won and by whom, since everyone does not know everyone else in the entire Coyle School. The last names of those in the school are not secret, so it is safe to use last names as well (which would be nice). There are several Abby's for instance. Which one is winning what? Using nicknames does not help. The bulletin board, in part, is meant to replace the old winner's list that I mentioned as being deleted. I just thought it might be a good idea to put some more detail in the messages for those of us who are still pretty new. THANKS A LOT!

was not meant to take the place of the results board that use to be on the website. This message board was meant to be a spot where the teachers, parents, and students could communicate with one another.
The school message board is a friendly spot where the students can congratulate one another on a job well done at the most recent feis. In regards to the girls using the last name of the students . . . there are people not within our dancing school that come onto this website, so I would prefer if the girls only use first names. The result board was taken off the website - per my request - because it was taking up too much space on our site and it was a time consuming job for our website co-ordinator.
I applaud all our students on the achievements at each and every feis they attend, wether they are from the New Jersey, Central PA, Montgomery Co, or Philadelphia chapters of the Coyle School of Irish Dance. Keep up the good work!!

Patti, I'm also trying to find the answer to that. I received that email last Thursday and had my ad all ready to go to class tonight. Since it got cancelled, I'm not sure what to do with it. I tried sending in the ad form online, but both it and the separate email I sent were returned as unsendable. If I mail it, I'm sure it'll be too late to get in. That sounds great to me. I also emailed Eileen (Colleen's sister) saying I had been unable to contact the Eileen doing the book. She forwarded my message on to her, so I'm not sure what her response will be.

Anyway, this is what we'd like to put in an 1/8 page ad (hopefully it'll fit):

"To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe."

Carly, you have dreamed about this and practiced hard. If you believe in yourself the way we believe in you, you WILL accomplish great things!

Hello everyone . . . . you know that saying . . . just when you think things couldn't get any worse? . . . . . . well in Colleen's life. . they always do!!!!

I am leaving for England tomorrow and have been given a major emergency to deal with. . . nothing medical . . all is well in that department. In order to fix this situation. . . . . I will need to be unavailable for the later afternoon and early evening. I am sorry to say I will need to be cancelling classes for tonight, Wednesday, Oct 26. Please spread the word. . . . . and again I apologize but this needs to handled before we leave tomorrow and can only be done this evening.

I will settle things up when we return about rescheduling. . . . Thank you for your cooperation and again please spread the word. . . . . . . . . !!!!

Hello anyone going to the Broesler or Ryan feis. I am expecting Perpetual trophies to be returned at both of these competitions. If someone asks you to take one please accept it and return it to Eileen or Marianne Devine or just bring it to practice the next time you go.

We are trying to get these back in time for our feis.

when you're standing in line or something, just stand there with your feet as far out as you can safely get them. Don't go too overboard. But this will help you get accustomed to standing with your feet in that position on a regular basis, which will then, in turn, help you get used to it while your dancing. After a while it won't feel as awkward and it won't be as hard.

As though you were swimming like a frog. Concentrate on keeping the toes lifted while pressing down the heels. Your goal is for your heels to eventually touch the floor. Hope this helps! Shannon

Hi - I understand some of the Coyle dancers will be at the Tir Na Gael feis this weekend. I have a dancer that is bringing back a perpetual trophy - her name is Shannon Cogan from the Hunt School and she will be dancing at the under 11 prelim stage - If anyone is at that stage or can go over to retrieve the trophy I would appreciate it. I will also advise Eileen and Collen - if they are going - and you can give the trophy to them or bring it to class and return it then. I don't know if any others will be brought to the feis but if they are please take them and return to Eileen. I appreciate any help you can give in getting these trophys back before our feis. Thanks

trying to decide on this feis-need to be back home on the night of the 13th-have a long,long drive. Will PC/C events run youngest to oldest? I saw the syllabus-and without some solid knowledge, I may have to pass on this feis. DD would really like to visit your area. She is in one of the younger PC groups. What is the typical time the latest events might finish? Thanks!

Last year we were pretty much done the championships by 5pm with awards given out. We have not determined the order but this year the cap is at 1000 instead of 1200 and awards will not be given out on the stage so that will help speed things up. We have 2 stages for championships and the younger are usually earlier with a few older ones interspersed so that our girls can help out at the feis. If you email the details of your daughters age, level, where you are coming from- I may be able to give you more specifics. Hope this helps.

The Feis Committee has been reviewing the past week's events. Due to the catastrophic Hurricane that hit the Gulf Coast and everyone's generous contributions to the relief effort as well as rising costs of gasoline we have decided that for this year we will lower the Admission fee per family to $10. If you have already sent your entry with the higher fee you will receive your refund with your competitor cards. Our syllabus should reflect this change soon. Thank you.

Hi All- The syllabus for our feis has been posted. We are doing something new this year. In addition to your entry fee you must send a $15 admission fee/FAMILY.On the day of the feis you may bring as many people to watch as you want, for free, as there will be no admission fees collected at the door. This translates into less volunteers needed and no long lines at the door the day of the feis!! THE ENTRIES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT THE ADMISSION FEE. Also note that the cap has been lowered to only 1000 dancers-don't wait to send your entries to me. Thanks for your help.

Kerry's battle with leukemia has recently forced her into a wheelchair and her house is not handicap accessible. We need your help! I want to thank everyone who helped in any way at the Coyle School Feis yesterday. You made it work. Special thanks to our entries team for their hard work making sure we had as much inforation as possible to make things run smoothly. No times are listed for any dances. The judges, musicians, stage volunteers and dancers do their best to move as quickly as possible. As a result, some stages may move more quickly than anticipated, and others may fall behind schedule due to problems that may arise. Therefore we list the competitions for each stage and use that as a guide. Please note that the schedule may change at any time in order to help move things along. If there are any changes to the schedule we will make an announcement giving each dancer plenty of notice and we will also note the changes on the stage boards listing the competitions.

I've looked at the sizes of the competitions before ours. The syllabus says Beginner and Adv. Beginner dance 2 at a time - does this go for the higher levels as well? Also - for the figure dances (please excuse my ignorance) are they danced one team at a time? I can't imagine how there would be room on stage if there is more than one! I'm trying to approximate the timing as best I can - we have a bit of a drive to get there.

Please note that due to fire and safety regulations, we can no longer allow any blankets to spread on the floor of the gym and the area outside of the gym at the feis. Anyone using blankets, etc. will be asked to remove them. Remember that we use the entire gym and do not roll out the stands in order to accomodate as many people as possible. I also have cable access and have'nt had any problems
with the site slowing down. I'm on the site aleast once a day with no problems.

Hi to everyone who attended the Waterloo(Stanhope) Feis this past Sunday. A Perpetual Trophy was given to one of the parents and I need to know who has it. Please bring it to dance class the next time you attend and give it to Eileen, Nellie or Patsy - whoever your teacher may be. Thanks

I just wanted to say hello and thanks for all of the great messages! Steve, Ronan and I are doing fine (I think)! It is a big adjustment but so much fun. Ronan is great, gaining lots of weight and not sleeping much at all! Eveyone keeps asking if he will dance. Steve is already having nightmares of Ronan running onto the basketball court wearing hard shoes. We will have to wait and see!

Congrats to all of the recent feis winners at Washington, Denogla and Delaware! I was thinking of all of you and saying a prayer for you.

I look forward to seeing you all in September. Keep up your training and enjoy the summer!

Always check the Coyle Feisanna page! It has a pretty comprehensive list of the feisanna local to our schools, along with addresses, e-mail and web site links. If you don't see the feis you want, there's a link to the North American Feis Association (NAFC). They have the "MASTER" list. Good luck (although by the posts listed here on all your accomplishments, doesn't look like you need any luck : )

Just a reminder that the Coyle School Feis for 2002 is going to be held on Sunday November 10th at Norristown Area High School. We will need a lot of volunteers for that day, but we are also looking for people interested in helping the feis committee plan the feis. If you are interested in helping the feis committee or volunteering the day of the feis, please let me know by sending me an email at feiscoyle@yahoo.com. The syllabus for the feis should be online within a few weeks. Thanks again for your help.

Just a reminder for you to get me a sample of last years ad book. Then I can give you an idea of if we can print it here (Independence Press) and how much. I'll be volunteering to help with the print copy of the syllabus and any other design projects you need. Do you have the ad book Lady's (sorry can't remember her name) e-mail address? I think Colleen wanted to use the design from the Feisanna page of the web site for this years "logo". How'd your daughter do at the Smith feis? Molly did pretty good a 2nd and 2- 3rds. See ya.

whats up?

Hope everyone is particing and doing their situps from collen's classes. I'm up to 80 (40 on situps and 40 on butt ups...crunches are better for the back).

Hope to see a lot of you at the Baltimore Feis!!!!!!!! Finely, getting a craby t-shirt from the feis. Hopefully it wont be canceled again.

If anyone who was at the summer camp on thursday and wrote done the st. patirck day's step cloud you please e-mail me it because i can not read my sisters hand-writing. I'm preparing to compete it at one of the feises my dad sind me up for. (If any champion dancers have any incourging words to help prepare me for competing a set dance reply to this message.)

What a wondeful website. It is really cool to be able to leave messages for memembers of the school and families can read them. I just want to say hi to all the dancer of the coyle school of dance to you to night if you signed up for Colleen's summer camp, and I can't wait for the fall to get here to get classes started up again.

Hi from NJ. The website looks superb. Wanted to let you know about a great Feis for next year-the Siobhan Moore Feis in Somers, NY in April. Very well run and organized. We had 5 girls go up this year and returned with 15 trophies. Also I heard from VA friends about a new Feis for this year in Fairfax (3 hrs away) that has potential to be good. It is the Maple School on Sun,9/15. Anyone who shops at Genuardi's supermarkets-don't forget to save Genuardi supermarket receipts. The school will get back 1% of the receipt totals. Bring them to class and put them in the Envelopes. Good luck to everyone at the Brick Feis.
