The gas tank was replaced a couple of months ago, and I just rebuilt the carb last weekend, so I,m pretty sure it isn't the choke. Once it's started and warmed up the choke opens up the way it should. The car will run all day on idle and is responsive when I play with the throttle. I did notice that after it stalls, there is no fuel in the float chamber so it is starving. Today I will check the fuel pump and the wiring around the tank for ground short. Winter and road salt can do some really annoying things. Thanks for the advice and I welcome anymore thoughts you might have and I'll let you know what happens.
