Brandy,

The combination switch on the steering column is very likely bad. Unlike newer designs using relays and low amperage, the older Accords have headlight switches where all the power goes through the switch. The high amperage generates heat, and the switching off and on can burn contacts over time. Did you notice that it gets warm at night? Again, that is because all the power is going through that switch.

It is called the combination switch because the housing contains the headlights/dimmer/turn signal/wiper/washer/hazard switches. To replace, you have to remove the steering wheel. Nothing is particularly hard, but you'll need a steering wheel puller and a bit of time and patience.

I suppose it could be cleaned and work for a while, but the safe bet is a replacement. In theory, it could also be a loose connection at the combo switch, but they usually stay together....good luck, glen
