We have a number of lizards living around our house, red-heads and blue-tail skinks. I was out on the stoop about a week ago and curled my toes over the edge of the stoop. One of our red-heads must have been down below, he came up and bit down on my small toe. You know once a lizard bites down on something he doesn't like to let go, but I persuaded him with a pinch of my own behind his jaws.

Actually Glory, I wouldn't feed them. If you keep them a little hungry, they'll keep the bugs down around your house.

I had a gf in grad school who kept two blue-tail skinks in a terrarium, she used to take them out and hold them up to her ear lobes. The skinks would bite down on them and then she'd walk around like they were live earings; all this while wearing n....... well, 'nough said.

I was half-kidding about the feeding him, I think it's probably better not to. But I hope he stays around.

My backyard is very popular with neighborhood cats and urban wildlife. We've seen raccoons, skunks, and possums back there a lot. I don't mind as long as they leave the garabage cans alone.

The raccoons here are a lot nicer than the ones in San Francisco. I was really surprised at how bold and aggressive the raccoons are in San Francisco. They are not afraid of people at all and used to terrorize the neighborhood with their trash can raids. I was coming home from work late one night and I saw a pack of them running down the street. It was pretty funny. They were big too, almost like medium-sized dogs.
