Subject: Little-known fact: Baseball is mermaid repellent
In reply to: Phaedra 's message, "Good Morning All .... so, how about that game (or non-game, more like exhibition;)" on 10:31:07 07/10/02 Wed

Hi all. Yes, Phae, the heat has kept me below the surface. That, and the evil plans I'm always busy with. ;)

Are you referring to that all-star pro baseball game in your header? Ugh. That's another reason I've been hiding below the surface. No offense to anyone, sports just isn't my thing. Here's my feeble attempt to bond with any sports fans present: What are the ESPY Awards? Are they a big deal? The part of Hollywood Blvd. I work on has been closed all week because of that damn thing, which I guess is tonight. I'm watching them set up the tent, red carpet, etc. outside my window. If only I cared.

And Seril: Phae's kimono is supposed to look like that. it's custom made. :)

Hope you're enjoying it, Phae, you look lovely in it! It shows off your best assets. ;)

Evil plans? I want to participate in evil plans! Oh wait, I have some of my own. Once I get control of the NSA's Giant Space-Laser, then I can have some fun... Actually, I already have an agent inside the NSA right now... Well, he doesnt know he's my agent yet, and he has yet to give me to keys to the space-laser, or even confirm its existance, but I know it's there. Every time I ask him about it, he just says "yeah, ok", which is not denying it, so it must be there. One of these days...

And yeah, it's been too hot to be sitting on a rock. It's also too hot for a penguin to be out running around. So, if you see one, let him know. Maybe we could get that rock replaced with something cooler or put some fans and heatsinks on it or something. That would make it nicer. You get get one of those new umbrellas that are coated in some sort of silvery thermal coating that repels the sun very well. They are gauranteed to be about 10 degrees cooler while underneath as well as block out harmful rays of the sun. While we're on the subject, you also can get swinsuits that allow you to tan underneath of them. The tan you get under the suit is not as tan as exposed skin, but it does still tan underneath of the suit. Pretty snazy, huh?

"Are you denying the snazzy of that?" LOL. Did you happen to catch any episodes of The Tick while it was on Fox? If so, you'll know why I said that and hopefully get a laugh too. If not, well...feel free to just give me a strange look. I get them all the time.

Yeha, I used to watch the Tick when it was still a caroon. The live action one was funny, but the cartoon was funnier.

It had quality lines like
Let's hand ten for Justice!
The boots of evil were made for walking!
Don't count your weasels before they pop, dink!
SPOOOON!

and it had the best character, Little Wooden Boy. We had a real one we made that looked just like him at work for awhile

Well, that's another little look into my life.

BTW, that's supposed to be

Let's hang ten for justice... not hand ten. that just doesnt make any sense.

I haven't seen the cartoon in ages because it's been ages since I've had cable. I love it, though! My favorite ep was the one with the evil mustache that took over the Tick's face!

The TV show wasn't as good but still better than most TV. And Patrick Warburton was perfect!!! They managed to get in some good lines there too. My favorite: "You and I are a different breed, Arthur. When society says 'jump,' we say, 'pass the salsa.' "

SPOOOOOOON!

yeah, I remember that episode. They had such quality villans as the breadmaster and dinosaur neil.

I used to have them all on my computer awhile back. Might have to see if I can get those again.

Bring him by the castle if you find him!

K, gotta go for now. We're taking one of the guys at work out for drinks. We'll have to fight our way through a crowd of sports fans clogging the strreets for the ESPY Awards. Blech.

How's that book I brought you, the one on how to pick up hot mermaids? (See my gift post below) Any useful info in there? ;)

......is a grotto of her own built into the castle wall. A cool, soothing cave of her own to retire into and escape from the heat of the day. At its center perhaps a fountain of cool spring water splashing into a clear deep pool.

I do so present this to you, Glory, the best of myself, my ideas. Yet a poor gift in light of the fine bow and arrows you have bestowed upon me.

;-)

An excellent idea, 'drec. I would like that very much! I'll ask Churchy if we can make some more renovations. We're lucky to have a guy like you around the castle!

Glad you are enjoying the bow and arrows!

Thanks, guys. Sounds like it would be exciting if I liked sports. As it is I'm just really annoyed because they've closed off all the side streets around the building I work in. Traffic is going to be a nightmare, it's going to take me forever to get home.

Let's see—things are getting started right now and the only people I recognize are the mother-daughter hag team of Melissa and Joan Rivers. Why are they here? Since when do they have anything to do with sports? Why are they standing there getting their picture taken on the red carpet? Ugh. I wish they made emoticons that signified eye-rolling, cuz I'd be using that right now.

I have binoculars in my office for occaisons such as this but they're not doing me any good today because I don't know who any of these people are anyway.

Samuel L. Jackson is there for god-knows-what reason. He's wearing a red beret. Now I'm excited. I love Samuel L. Jackson. Sigh. Well, that's that. Back to work. See, Phae—don't be fooled, it's really not that exciting. Just "there they are," and that's that.

What's way more fun, though, is when Grauman's Chinese Theater is hosting a movie premiere or if someone is getting a star on the walk of fame. When we have time some of us go down to gawk and it is SO much fun to heckle the stars. Not in a mean way, it's just funny to see them befuddled. When that movie "Valentine" came out last year a bunch of us went down to gawk at David Boreanaz. One of the other editors, a tiny woman with a big voice who likes to talk like her New York Jewish grandmother, started yelling at DB in this grandmother voice, pretending to be a crazed fan. She kept yelling "Angel! Angel!" The look on DB's face was hilarious.
