Good Morning (if your on the east coast of the United States),

I posted a note to your guest book yesterday and have now had a chance to look at some of the music.

Two things:
First, pickup notes that begin a piece should not have a seperate time signature. The composer would not have written it in that manner.

Second, and most important, the tablature is very aggrevating. Reading music is not that hard to learn. Granted the early rennaissance and early baroque lute and vihuela music was written in various forms of tablature but this pre-dated our modern and accepted method of notation. Any begining method book will teach the basics of reading music. The key to developing that skill is to sight read a piece each day, without stopping, starting with easy graded music and moving on to more difficult music. Oh, and another thing, one should only sight read their chosen pieces once daily or they will become memorized and thusly defeat the purpose. I know that my view on this may not be a popular one but it is worth some effort if you truly want to speak the language of music. Also, when you practice your sight reading, start slowly and work with a metronome. Once you can play a piece from sight at app. quarter-note =60 move to the next setting on the metronome. Do not jump to 80 or 90. This is just like learning to play fast, YOU MUST PRACTICE SLOWLY!

Your sight has a wealth of good music, my only concern is the copyright laws.

I invite anyone who has any questions to email me. I have taught guitar for 12 years and have worked with quite a few well-known artists. Also, my doctoral work focused on the music of J.S. Bach therefore I do have some insight into the correct interpretation of his wonderful music.

Thanks for listening (reading).

WS
