from the article. When I read the article I heard his outrage that this would ever happen. I read his disgust that this not only happens dozens (or hundreds?) of times, but that the perpetrators get their kicks from it. I hear him expressing eloquently the horror and revulsion that every American should be hearing from the news media when these crimes come to light.

Where do we go to find that these monster are being prosecuted for their crimes? Because I just don't see it happening. OK, the guys in the Green rape/murder case are getting the book thrown at them, but the others? Eight years for murder? You don't really believe that's justice, do you? And all the check-point and house-search murders, killing pregnant women, Italian journalists and their drivers, babies, etc? Those soldiers are completely exonerated. http://www.globalpolicy.org/security/issues/iraq/occupation/report/atrocities.htm

And keep in mind that this follows the horrors of Abu Graib, where Bush and Gonzalez revealed their endorsement of torture, where Rush Limbaugh said it was on a par with fraternity pranks at college, where all the "right-wing" commentators dismissed it all as "boys will be boys".

And keep in mind that Abu Graib NEVER would have made the light of day, never would have gotten more than a wink and a nod if it weren't for the pictures being shared falling into the hands of the media.

So, when I hear "The military is addressing it" I hope you'll forgive me if I'm a little skeptical.

I'm glad to hear that you find these acts inexcusable. Now let's put an end to the war so these things don't happen any more--at least not at American hands.
