Giuliana Sgrena has been discredited not just by her own changing account of what happened (she admitted she was not an eyewitness), her kidnapping is rumored to be a hoax as well. Why would your friends kidnap you? Why would the cameraman follow her orders in its use of taping her demand?

She is a member of Italy's Communist Party.

One more thing: If the soldiers at the checkpoint wanted to kill her, she would not have been left alive to tell the twisted tale.

A .50 cal machine gun would have reduced her car to smithereens and dismembered the bodies. She claims the soldiers used their .50 cal.

Not only that, she told her driver to rush the checkpoint.
The soldiers used hand signals, flashing lights and shouts to get them to slow down and stop before opening fire.
