I have known and know drunks...and pot heads.
I'll take the pot heads any day over the drunks.
I was raised by drunks so my view maybe a bit slanted.

My oldest daughters best friend lost his sister less then a week ago to a drug overdose. He lost his dad about two yrs ago to alochol(the man got drunk, fell out a second floor window. He didnt die from the fall but from exposure..it was about zero degrees that night).
This young man now only has a mom now and needless to say its tough on him.
My dd was also a friend of this young lady.
So its been tough on her too.
We lost our oldestest son two yrs ago(three yrs come this May) and she is the one who found his body. He didnt die from any substance but from medical problems.

Personaly I think pot should be legal..if for nothing else then for medical research. I dont know where the government gets off telling people and their doctor that they cant use a plant that God made, a plant that one could grow themselves...but we can use all kinds of chemical man made drugs that cost lots of money.
I think if it were legal the same restrictions should apply.
No one under age can buy it.
No one may be under the influence while driving.

I think its somewhat hypercritical to have alcohal legal even when it has caused more violent crimes then pot. booze has cause more abuse of spouses and children then pot....if you never been around a pot head just know that most of them are so mellowed by the pot that they wouldnt have the energy to get up off the couch let alone hit someone.

anyway...
I guess the point is...does the Federal government have a right to tell the states what to do on this issue.
I dont beleave they do. I beleave this should be a state issue. Just like gay marriage or anything else. Unless the Constitution has given that responsibility to the federal government it is reserved to the states and the people unless the Constitution has said no.
We are either going to follow the Constitution or not.

Blessings
Jean
