Subject: First...What is MAD?????
In reply to: Mary, quite contrary 's message, "and while I sympathize with those who have enlisted in the military for educational" on 10:12:01 06/29/05 Wed

I wanted to respond some to your post Mary. My dh got into the Army because we could not afford to pay for medical school. He read the contract very closely and we were quite aware of what we had gotten ourselves into. There have been no surprises and for the most part, we have been treated well. We originally intended to only stay in for the rest of his schooling, and the payback time, but the opportunity came to go to Europe and we jumped on it. I can honestly say that dh has never been ordered to do something that he felt was wrong. Maybe we have been protected and blessed, because everytime we have prayed about staying in or getting out, the answer has been to stay in. Personally, at this point, I would like to get out, but as I have stated before, I believe that the Lord has a reason for us staying in...most likely to help and support those who serve in the military. He is coming up on only 6 more years to retirement, so I think we are in for the long haul. I agree with you very much that no one should be forced in, but I do believe that people should honor their contracts. Does MAD have something to do with a draft????
