You are doing well. I think parents make the mistake to provide TOO much rather than to help them get the essentials and let them work for the frills. That way they appreciate what it takes to make and keep and use a buck.

I feel sorry for kids who grow up having it handed to them. One of my friends in college had an American Express Card that her dad let her use. She had a VERY limited line of credit (I think 200 was her limit), but she used it twice that I remember. She was very conscious of money and never flaunted it, but still, how many kids do you know with a credit card?

It will work out. It will be hard, but they will be better for it.

Hope all goes well for them and her prom. Hey, at least she has a date and has enough grace to work for her things. I am proud of her and she isn't even my kid!
