Yes, it will somehow be cheaper to stay free in Phoenix than it will be to stay free in Las Vegas.

As I recall, he was less than enthusiastic about staying in John's parents' toolshed.

And because Phoenix sucks, and because they are predicting one of the hottest summers on record, and because staying in different places will totally fuck the whole experience, and if we stayed in a Motel 6 it would still be more expensive than staying free at the Polo Towers.

You would have to drive or fly further to get to Phoenix, of course.

(Is it pretty clear what I think about Phoenix?)

From what I can tell now, I may not be able to attend this Summer. That may change, but I have to be up front about this now out of consideration to all of you. Also, we don't have to make this a Summer thing. Summer was the original plan for the first meeting to take advantage of the off-season rates in Vegas.

I suggested Phoenix because it seemed like an extremely easy alternative that would cost me about $20 to drive up and around for a few days. The free room in Vegas would cost me about $30 in gas (if I split with Ken) and the food, drinks, etc would run up another $200 or so. Also, I hate driving to Vegas as much as Ken hates living in Phoenix. Agreed, Phoenix is the anus of America, but apart from Jeff we all have a home base there. That was the point. Of course, you all know I prefer Amsterdam or Paris as the meeting place (when I have money) but we know that will never happen.

I didn't think I would get that much resistance to the Phoenix proposal since you guys made it clear in the past that I was the only one that seemed to want to go someplace where we could do fun stuff besides discussions.

Maybe we can work out some other venue suitable to all or meet in Vegas later. How long will that room be available. Also, isn't there some issue regarding sufficient space and only one bed in that room?

I think the food, drinks, etc. would be about the same in Phoenix.

I don't think that's possible, but I was going to spring for bus tickets anyway.

I never said that. I want a vacation, not a retreat.

I think Mr. Fadeaway said it was available thru November. I would rather sleep on a bed of nails in Vegas than stay in Phoenix for my vacation.
