First, thank you for taking in this little waif. CCs typically do not do well in shelters so I'm sure she'll be thrilled to be out.

Not all CCs need lotion. Get her on a good, high quality premium food and not only will you put some weight on her (she sounds underweight to me...but then I like mine with some meat on their bones), but you may be surprised how it helps her skin. Make sure that your sweaters do not have wool in them, most CCs are allergic to wool. If you do choose to use a lotion, try to avoid any with lanolin as they can also be sensitive to it (just like humans, some may be and others not). What many of us use is not a lotion at all, but simply olive oil or organic coconut oil. Neither of these will clog the pores and cause breakouts, and if they lick after applied, it will not hurt them.

Here's a great site where you can compare dog foods, learn what ingredients to avoid (for all dogs, not just Cresties), and why certain ingredients are dangerous for dogs: www.thedogfoodproject.com
