Recommend you consider installing a CPU Cooling Utility (RAIN
or the original WaterFall 123). Installing RAIN in my Vibrant-166MX
caused it to run much cooler, the fan didn't come on nearly so often
and it added 20 minutes to the battery time.

These are easy to install and there's *NO* apparent performance
loss. They may prolonged battery life. RAIN and WaterFall
work with AMD, Cyrix and Pentium CPUs and come with their own
uninstall option in the Start Menu if you decide not to keep
them. These are small (less than 120Kb download) and best of
all ... they're FREE!

If you're running Windows 98, use RAIN 2.0 -- download it at:

http://www.notebookreview.com/Rain20.zip

For Windows 95 use either RAIN 1.0 or WATERFALL 1.23. These
are available at:

http://www.netigen.com/free/free23.html

RAIN & WaterFall will have no effect On Linux, NT, or OS/2 as
these OSes already halt the processor when it is idle. Some
programs keep the CPU busy even when they are doing absolutely
nothing. Word 97 is one of the biggest offenders. Also,
using a screensaver or an animated pointer will require
additional CPU activity.

NOTE: The FAQ said RAIN & WaterFall will make the CPU appear
to be running 100%, even though its not. I haven't
used WaterFall Pro. It's NOT FREE ;)

Hope this helps ... John
