Liz, I was wondering if you were able to get any information from the Liverpool Pilot Service that was recommended to you by David Howard? I too have a great-great grandfather, John G. Jones that was also a channel boat pilot out of Liverpool. I'm guessing in the mid-1800's. This is the first time I have seen reference to a definite place to do research. Could you get back to me and let me know if you were successful in finding anything at the aforementioned service. Do they have an email address?

Hope you had good luck. It's been difficult to find what I'm looking for and thought perhaps this might be the site I need for my research. You can imagine how difficult it's been searching for John Jones!

Thank you so much. Barbara
